With all the mysterious cities all over the world like Atlantis, El Dorado, Agartha, and many others. It is not surprising to have an additional invisible city that seems to be mythical in nature. Although the other cities may stay as a myth forever, the Biringan City in the Philippines can actually be the real deal.

Biringan City is said to be located in Samar in the Philippines. Some locals said that it is located between the towns of Gandara, Tarangnan, and Pagsanhan. However, this city is invisible to the naked eye since it is not your usual cities where you can just come and go as you please.

The City of Engkanto

Engkantos are elemental spirits that can be seen as a human being. They are said to be shapeshifters as well. Some believe that they are also creatures of the night who are taking people to be eaten alive. But others said that they are luring them to their world to be their mate.

It is believed to be the city of engkantos since some people have been abducted and brought in Biringan City. These people were never to be seen again. But according to some urban legends, a goddess called Carolina is the one responsible for these disappearances. She lured people to go to the invisible city at night.

Biringan City can only be seen when the dark mantles the place. Or simply it can only appear at night but not for everybody to see. The place can only be seen to those who are traveling the area without even a clue that they will already be transported to another realm where the engkantos lives.

It is described to look like New York City or Hong Kong according to people who got abducted but were lucky enough to return to our world. Yes, there are some people who are were able to get out of that mystical place to tell the tale. However, most of them were not found any more since they chose to live in Biringan City forever.

How to Get There

If you are lucky enough, you can visit Samar, the Philippines for starters. Then try to act as if you are a lost traveler. Maybe the engkantos will notice you and take interest to bring you to their mythical city. Since most of the time, truck drivers are the ones being abducted who happen to be traveling around the area.

It was also mentioned that some businessmen and fishermen are being lured to the city by a very beautiful fairy which is called “diwata” locally. They will be put in a trance so that they will follow the diwata until they reach Biringan City. It’s similar to sirens but the diwata don’t need to sing anymore since her looks alone are already mesmerizing enough for any men to follow her wherever she goes.

Some people also said that there are furniture, building materials, and even a car delivery which are all addressed in Biringan City. It’s all paid in full so the delivery should be done. They were told to come around 7 PM. But for some who don’t want to do the night delivery, good luck in finding the place. The city will only show up at night since it’s an enchanted place.

Who Lives There

Based on the locals, there are many creatures that live in Biliran City. These are the enkanto, diwata, and even aswang. They are known to have different characteristics like the usual human being. But they look like ordinary humans except for the philtrum in their upper lip is not showing up. They also have a black diet which means that the food they eat is black in color. It is said that if you eat this black thing, you can never return to the real world anymore.

It’s also mentioned that these creatures eat humans which are the aswang. They will eat your gut, heart, and liver. They also feed on fetuses inside the mother’s womb. However, these creatures may be lives in another part of Biliran City. The locals are often having encounters with them as they lose their livestock or worst, their kids at night when they are active.

Some of the unexplained death was also the doings of these engkantos. Another tale is that if someone from Biliran City got attracted to you, they will take you as their bride or groom. Your lifeless body will be left to make it appear as if you’re already dead. But in reality, it is just a banana tree log where they put a spell on it so your family will think that you died and no longer look for you.

Conclusion

Biringan City is indeed another mythical place where people around the area are aware of. It is a very famous urban legend in the Philippines. Maybe it’s a story that was made to scare children so that they will not go out at night. But there are other versions of it when you have to go to college or when you have to go for a vacation. It varies but they always have the same ending. You will be dead when you go to Biringan City since you cannot return any more.

Or will you become an immortal as well like the residents of the city? Nobody knows since most of the witnesses were very old to take their stories seriously. Some say that they were abducted but was able to escape on time before the ritual. But unless you experience it yourself, maybe Biringan City will remain to just be a mysterious city that’s interesting to know about.
