The Army Day celebration, which takes place on January 15 each year, will be hosted in Bengaluru for the first time this calendar year. Additionally, this year marks the first time that Army Day, which is currently in its 75th year, will be celebrated in a location other than the nation's capital

India got its first Army Chief in 1949. On 15 January 1949, Field Marshal K. M. Cariappa took over the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army from General Francis Butcher, the last British Commander-in-Chief of India. This year, India is celebrating its 75th Army Day on 15 January.

The Chief of the Army Staff, General Manoj Pande will lay a wreath at the Madras Engineering Group War memorial on that day and review the Army Day parade by eight marching contingents including a horse mounted contingent.

Five regimental brass bands will be part of the parade

The parade featured a display of military might, including a showcase of weapons and equipment, as well as a march past by the soldiers. The parade also paid tribute to the sacrifices made by the Indian Army and its veterans.

Speaking at the Army Day parade in Bengaluru Sunday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said the event was organised in Karnataka to pay tribute to the people of the state who laid down their lives for India’s freedom.

The youth selected for the Indian Army and Air Force under the new recruitment scheme Agnipath have reached their respective training centres and the training for those to join the Indian Air Force began on Sunday

The first batch of Agniveers included about 25,800 soldiers, including 19,000 recruits for the Indian Army, 2,800 recruits for Indian Navy (Includes 271 Womens) and 3,000 for the Indian Air Force (IAF).

PM Narendra Modi addressed that this transformative policy will be a game changer in strengthening the Armed Forces and making them future ready for the challenges that lie ahead. The Prime Minister affirmed that the young Agniveers will make the Armed Forces more youthful and tech-savvy.
