Incredible Fan Art Shows Keanu Reeves As Darth Revan

Keanu Reeves, the woah master himself, has been at the center of discussion within the Star Wars community after an artist created some fan art depicting him as Darth Revan. Once artist Yadvender Singh Rana posted this depiction on his Instagram page, fans across the internet started to get excited for the possibility of Keanu being cast as this popular Sith Lord. In the Instagram post below, Rana’s art beautifully exhibits Darth Revan’s split between Jedi and Sith Lord.

To understand why fans are so excited, it is good to know a little history of Darth Revan’s journey within the Star Wars universe.

Darth Revan was originally introduced in the Bioware and LucasArts 2003 video game Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic. Revan was the main playable character in the game and could be a man or woman based on the player’s create-a-character selections, leaving doubt about whether Darth Revan would be a man or woman in the official lore. However, in October of 2005, Revan was confirmed to be a man in the reference book Star Wars: The New Essential Chronology.

According to Wookieepedia, Revan “was a human male who played pivotal roles as both Jedi and Sith across centuries of Old Republic conflicts, including the Mandalorian Wars, Jedi Civil War, Great Galactic War, and Revanite Crisis.”

Seeing how Darth Revan was once a Jedi and fell to the dark side, Rana's fan art accurately expresses Revan’s path as he grew up as a child learning the Jedi way and becoming one of the Jedi’s most promising pupils. After the Mandalorian Wars, Revan went on to investigate powerful Sith influences that were behind the war where he discovered a hidden Sith empire controlled by Sith Emperor Vitiate. In a conflict with Emperor Vitiate, Revan was overcome by Vitiate’s powerful mind control, forced into the Sith Master’s command, and was anointed Darth Revan.

A few reasons fans can be excited is that Darth Revan is now a real possibility to be a character in an upcoming Star Wars project. To explain, once Disney acquired Lucasfilm, the Star Wars lore was divided into two categories: canon and Legends. Canon essentially being the previously released theatrical films, The Clone Wars TV series, and Star Wars stories created under Disney, and Legends being the stories that originated when George Lucas was in charge (though he did not necessarily consider them to be part of his vision).

While Revan had been considered a character of the Legends category for several years, his mention in 2019’s reference book, Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker: The Visual Dictionary, brought Revan back into the canon category. This has given fans hope that Darth Revan will someday appear onscreen.

Now that there is a real chance for Darth Revan to pop up in a Star Wars movie or TV show, the industry rumors that Keanu is being considered for the role of an Ancient Sith Emperor (*cough* Sith Emperor Vitiate *cough*) in a future Star Wars project has given fans hope that Keanu could ultimately be cast as Darth Revan.
