In what way will the universe end?

Five mainstream conjectures in science, each of which is frightening

Universe

Since the beginning of consciousness, human beings have been afraid of death, because death means that all the good experiences, and memories, and those who can not let go of their loved ones, relatives, and everything they had, will leave them.

Although humans are very fearful and disgusted by death, but it is an iron law in the universe, there is no way to break and escape.

However, not only all creatures can not escape the end of extinction even though the universe itself is not eternal existence, but it will also usher in its end sometime in the future, this is already a recognized fact in the scientific community.

However, although it is known that the universe will certainly end one day, in what way it will end and fall, has always been the focus of debate among various factions. Here's a look at five possible ways the universe could end together.

I. The end of intelligent life

When mankind has not yet appreciated the beauty of the atomic world, I'm afraid no one would have thought that something just the size of a car could easily destroy a city of millions of people.

But with the huge mushroom cloud rising from Hiroshima, Japan, people suddenly realized that the boundary between science fiction and reality is becoming smaller and smaller.

At the same time, many people recognized the "end of intelligent life theory" also came into being. The hypothesis is that as the level of intelligent biotechnology in the universe increases, the universe will one day be destroyed by the intelligent life it has produced.

This is not a novel science fiction point of view, but the reality of the very likely to happen. If there are civilizations in the universe that have developed for hundreds of millions of years, it is perhaps not impossible that the power of their weapons could destroy space-time.

Universe

Interestingly, based on this hypothesis some people propose that the desolate cosmic environment we see now may be the environment that has been destroyed.

II. Simulation of the end of the universe

While we are enjoying the convenience brought by computers, a theory that makes people think very carefully is slowly gaining recognition. This theory, called the virtual universe, suggests that the vast universe may not be real, but a complex virtual program.

Does this theory seem absurd? After all, no one would think that they are living in the code of the program. But in fact, many people are very much in agreement with this theory, including many well-known scholars.

Oxford University professor Nick Stromboli (Nick Stromboli) that the probability of humans currently living in a virtual world is nearly 100 percent.

And Sylvester James Gates, an expert in superstring theory, has stated that he has found evidence of virtual worlds in string theory.

Therefore, if our current universe is just a virtual program, then when the energy to maintain its normal operation is interrupted, it is the time for its demise.

Third, the great collapse of the universe

Enjoying the bright sunshine, feeling the light breeze, if someone in your ear tells you, this beautiful everything will eventually collapse, or tear, what will you think in your mind? Will be incredulous, or will retort back to it?

Such a frightening thing may become a reality, and affect all this is the basic parameters of the universe, such as the four fundamental forces, the decay time of each particle, etc.

You know, it is these parameters that maintain the basic operation of the universe, if one of them produces the slightest change, it is possible to destroy the orderly universe, and even let the universe fall apart in an instant.

In recent years, as mankind continues to study the universe, scientists have discovered a scary fact - the fine structure constants of the universe are changing.

The change means that the universe may not be as stable as humans first thought, and it may become more and more unstable over time, eventually leading to the appearance of a major collapse.

Even if the parameters of the universe do change, it will be trillions of years from now, and the probability is that humans will not be able to continue until then.

Fourth, the big squeeze theory

At present many traces and evidence show that the universe is infinitely expanding toward. In recent years, many scientists have pointed out that the expansion of the universe should not be infinite, but has a critical value.

When the expansion of the universe reaches a critical value, the universe will change from an expanding state to a contracting state, and eventually, revert to an existence that is difficult for humans to understand - the singularity.

In the contraction state, all macroscopic and microscopic matter in the universe will be destroyed by this rule and annihilated from the universe, and then the universe comes to its end.

V. Theory of the oscillating universe

The "oscillating universe theory" is similar to and overlaps with the "big squeeze theory". Both believe that the universe cannot expand indefinitely and that there must be a critical value, which will be transformed into a contraction state once it reaches.

However, unlike the "Big Squeeze Theory", the oscillating universe theory believes that after the universe shrinks into a singularity, it will not exist in a singularity state forever, but will start to expand again to form a new universe and repeat the process.

If the oscillating universe theory is true, is it possible to determine how many times the current universe is repeating itself?

And, is it possible for a civilization to jump out of this repetition process if it has developed its technological level to the extreme? If the answer is yes, then where would they be now? And what level of technology have they reached?

We have reason to believe that if the level of technology of civilization has developed to the extent of ignoring the laws of the universe, then their technology must have been no different from magic in the eyes of humans, which is undoubtedly unacceptable.

These are the five ways to end the universe with the largest number of endorsements. Although these five ways of ending are different, each of them is frightening. As said at the beginning of the article, humans are intelligent creatures, but rather intelligent creatures have a deep-seated fear of death.
