Dogs are one of the first wild creatures domesticated by humans, and they have been with humans for thousands of years as a good friend of humans.

From the watchdogs raised by rural people to pet dogs called "sons" or "daughters" by urbanites, dogs have occupied an important position in human life.

However, I believe that many people do not know about the "Space Dog" incident. In fact, this incident happened during the Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union.

At that time, the two superpowers, the United States and the Soviet Union, in order to compete for world supremacy, led the "war" into space. The Soviets sent a 3-year-old stray dog into space. After 63 years, it is still floating in space.

1. Human space journey

December 17, 1903, was a day that inspired all mankind, because the Wright brothers made their first test flight, which was also the world's first aircraft "Flyer One". This pioneering work by the Wright brothers has laid a solid foundation for mankind to further explore the universe.

But this is only the first step of mankind's march into space. Next, mankind has launched "attacks" again and again in order to rush out of the earth and travel the universe.

In 1961, it was an important historical moment for the Soviet Union and the whole world, because the Soviet cosmonaut Gagarin became the first person to enter the universe.

In fact, long before Gagarin entered space, in order to ensure the safety of astronauts, a puppy was sent into space. Its name is Laika.

As an animal that "beyond human" entered space for the first time, it has made huge sacrifices for the cause of human spaceflight. Although this puppy is only 3 years old, it has lived up to its mission.

Died less than seven days after being launched into space, it has been wandering in space for 60 years.

2. "Space Dog" Laika

The well-known Laika is a stray dog. Because of this effect's docile personality and special human nature, it can quickly complete some complex commands.

Later, when choosing "space dogs", Laika stood out from many stray dogs and was sent to the Soviet Space Agency for professional training.

Laika, who entered the Soviet Space Agency, seemed to have changed his life, and his body became stronger day by day. The breeder who specializes in training Lycra not only likes this smart little guy, but also takes good care of its diet and daily life. Laika's ultimate destination is to be sent to space and contribute to the history of human spaceflight.

In November 1957, scientists from the Soviet Space Agency made preparations for the Laika for the last time, as it was about to fly into distant space.

In addition to preparing some exquisite dog food for Laika, small toys were also prepared for it, and a comprehensive physical examination was done. In this way, after Laika was ready, it was loaded into the transmitter.

After sending Laika to the spacecraft "Sputnik II", the Soviet scientists returned to the space base. Because Laika's body is equipped with sensors, humans can detect Laika's physical characteristics and heart rate changes through these sensors, and through the detection window, you can observe the dynamics of Laika in the universe.

3. Lycra roaming space

Just after entering space, Laika looked restless, very nervous and uneasy. Judging from the information transmitted by the sensor, the "space dog" Laika's heartbeat was particularly fast, and the heart rate reached two or three times normal.

This also means that Laika's physiology and psychology are not adapted to space, and the most important thing is that this puppy has a huge sense of fear.

However, experts believe that this should be a normal phenomenon, so after continuing to observe for a period of time, the puppy's signs began to gradually stabilize.

This shows that Laika has adapted to the space environment, but when everyone was cheering, Laika died less than a week after entering space, and the cause of death was due to lack of oxygen.

This actually reflects the shortcomings of Soviet aviation technology. Fortunately, it is a stray dog. If it is a precious astronaut, the loss will be great.

The spacecraft that Laika was on eventually became its final resting place. But in order not to damage the reputation of the Soviet Aviation Administration, the news did not come out in the end.

They announced that they were worried about Laika's fear, so they gave him sleeping pills in advance. Later, because the temperature in the cabin was too high, Laika died in his sleep. The whole process was very calm and painless. I don't believe this statement at all

4. Laika Monument

In order to commemorate Laika's contribution to the aerospace industry, the Soviets also specially issued "Laika stamps", and 40 years later, humans built a monument to Laika.

After entering the 21st century, the world aviation industry has entered a new era, and the news of Laika's death was announced in 2002.

Due to the limited technology at the time, the spacecraft that Laika was riding on was ultimately unable to retrieve it, so Laika has been floating in space to this day.

More than 60 years have passed, and the legend of the "space dog" Laika is still circulating around the world, and it will also be recorded in the history of human spaceflight forever.

Epilogue

Humans' exploration of space has come true in the last century. In this long history, although science and technology have already changed with each passing day, the "space dog" who once contributed to the aerospace industry is still alive in people's hearts. As a "hero" in the history of human spaceflight, he will be forever remembered by mankind.
