"Welcome back, everyone, to the 17th Cyclical Iron Chef Glactica, where the great species compete for the title of greatest culinary masters in the Milky Way. It's looking to be another fantastic day of competition, especially with the upsets of yesterday. Rik'tal, what can you tell us about these unexpected results?"

"Well, Aratun, this sort of thing has happened before, so it shouldn't be entirely unexpected. Remember that starting four cycles ago there were too many species to continue in the standard format where one species was eliminated in each round, so we changed to a bracket elimination method. Each species is only facing up against a single other species for each round, and nobody knows who their opponent is until judgement time. This allows for more species to participate, which means more glory for the winners."

"That's certainly right. I think we should also talk about the new rule allowing for each species to bring in different chefs depending on the type of food. How do you see that impacting the competition?"

"I mean, the rule was implemented to bring fairness to the competition. Nearly a third of all species in the galaxy have some measure of a hive mind, so they could call on the collective knowledge of their entire species as opposed to competing on their own merit. The new rule allows for every species to field an expert in each particular type of food, so the competition should be fiercer than ever. We saw the results first-hand yesterday with the Terran upset over Grabnithar, the two-time winner, so I'm just excited to see where it leads us."

"I'm glad you bring up the Terrans. Frankly, nobody expected much from them. After all, the last time this competition was held, the Terrans hadn't even mastered fire. They've come incredibly far in an incredibly short time, evolutionarily speaking, and then their first opponent in Iron Chef Galactica is Grabnithar - and the category was aquatic-based dishes, no less. Here, let's pull up a replay of yesterday's broadcast. As we can perceive the Terran representative here in the back, and as soon as the announcement is made that the category is a dish based on aquatic food, she speaks into her headset and her place is taken by an older Terran who looks entirely different."

"That's right. I've spoken to the Terran team manager since then, apparently their species is non-homogenized. Different people from different parts of their planet have different features, different diets, et cetera. So, this rule about chef replacement each round could be a major boon to them. I’d say it certainly worked out in their favor yesterday. For any viewers who missed yesterday's broadcast, the Grabnithar were predicted to win with 99.4% certainty, but the Terran chef used his fish - uncooked! - to make a dish he called 'sushi', which won in a landslide, receiving 83% of the judges' votes."

"An upset in a landslide indeed. And now the Terrans' popularity has skyrocketed, giving them a 12% chance to win today as well. Ah, here come the contestants now, they are ready to begin.......... It seems that the category for today is Desserts. Any type of food meant to follow a main dish. And the contestants are off! Once again the Terrans are opting for a chef substitution, let's see if we can get some information about this chef up on your screens. It seems that she's from a region of Terra known as France, specializing in something known as a 'Crepe Suzette Neuf', and - WHAT PURPOSE COULD A FLAMETHROWER HAVE IN MAKING A DESSERT?!"
