A village is usually formed by a certain number of people in an area and their habitat, nature, environment and fauna. As such, the existence of such villages is noticed in every corner of the world. Some villages are cities, some cities are districts or regions, and some districts and regions are considered to be a country with a combined geographical location. Today, with the advent of technology, the world has become smaller. The world as a whole is a village where every country can actually be considered or represented as an individual.

A global village is a concept where people from different parts of the world connect with each other through easy travel and travel, media and electronic communication (radio, television, telephone, mobile phone, internet, etc.) and gradually become a single community. Due to the widespread use and influence of different types of media, especially the world-wide-web, people in one part of the world today can easily communicate with people in another part of the world.

The exchange of information has brought the world so close that it has emerged as a village. For example, a person living in Bangladesh can now instantly communicate online with a person living in any part of Australia. Some other electronic media including telephone, television, computer and internet (messenger, email, social media) are playing a helpful role in bridging the gap.

.

Global Village Nowadays people on one side of the world are becoming dependent on people on the other end. In today's world we are basically living in a global village. Global Village can be seen in communication, employment, education, medicine, research, office, housing, business, news, entertainment and social communication and exchange of cultural elements. People in different parts of the world are now interconnected and self-reliant.

Marshall McLuhan, a Canadian writer, was the first to popularize the term Global Village. He gained prominence through his 1962 book, ‘The Gutenberg Galaxy: The Making of Typographic’, and his 1964 book, ‘Understanding Media’.

In the second book, McLuhan describes how the rapid flow of electrical technology and information has evolved into a village. His insights were groundbreaking at the time where he referred to the Global Village as an electronic nervous system (media) and meant that it would quickly integrate into a planet called Earth.

Massive advances in various fields through information and communication technology have now brought people from all over the world closer together.
