The story of GIN TAMA started in the late Edo period, Where aliens called "Amanto" attacked humanity. The samurai of Japan fight with them in order to protect the world, but the shōgun cowardly surrenders in front of the aliens realizing their super powers. He signs a contract with the aliens on placing a ban on carrying swords in public and not allowing the invaders to enter the country of japan. All the swords of the samurai are confiscated and the Tokugawa bakufu (shogunate) becomes a puppet governor.

The series focuses on Gintoki Sakata, an eccentric samurai, who works as a freelancer. He helps Shinpachi Shimura, a teenage boy, in saving his sister named Tae from a group of aliens who wants to send her to a brothel. Being so much impressed by him, Shinpachi becomes Gintoki’s freelance apprentice and learns more about the enigmatic samurai. Later, when Gintoki and Shinpachi rescues a teenage alien girl named Kagura from a Yakuza group, both of them accept her into their freelancing business and the three become known as "Yorozuya".

While working as a team, they regularly encounter the Shinsengumi police force, who often takes help from Gintoki in order to fight against dangerous criminals. They often encounter Gintoki’s former comrades from the Amanto invasion, including the revolutionary Kotaro Katsura who is friendly toward them despite his terrorist activities against the alien-controlled government. You can find Gintama dub all episodes on IMDB.

2. Sakata Gintoki wore scooter goggles all the time :

During the early stages of the manga, Gintoki used to have scooter goggles fastened around his neck all the time. But, it irritates Hideaki a lot because drawing them all the time was "a pain to draw" according to him which ultimately led to drawing Gintoki without the goggles.

This is because of the infinite number of glasses he had to change during the Gintama series because the number 8 can be used to represent the "infinite".

The voiceover artist Takashi Mikako not only does a great job on doing the voiceover of Sadaharu but she also gives her voice to Terakado Tsuu, who is a pop idol singer in the anime.
