Several behind-the-scenes images of Rosario Dawson’s epic appearance as Ahsoka Tano have appeared.

Season 2 of The Mandalorian concluded a very satisfying season for fans. Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni promised and delivered on every teaser shown before the release of the episodes. A few fan-favorite animated characters made their live-action debut this season. The most anticipated among them was Ahsoka Tano.

This Ahsoka is a survivor in every sense of the word. She left the Jedi Order during The Clone Wars animated series. She was one of the only (former) Jedi to survive the Clone Wars and Order 66 at the end of that show. She lived to see her former master, a person she admired greatly, perish. We do not know if she knows that Darth Vader renounced the dark side and redeemed himself at the end of his life. Everyone she loved or knew is dead. She is isolated and alone.

Several behind-the-scenes pictures have emerged from Chapter 13: The Jedi. There plenty of action shots of Dawson wielding her Tano’s lightsabers. Photos of Dawson with Lucas and Filoni on set are also featured.

It is no wonder that George bonded with Rosario on set. George Lucas and Dave Filoni initially created Ahsoka to serve a narrative purpose for Anakin Skywalker’s character. Lucas was also looking to create a female heroine for his young daughters to admire. He left the development of her backstory up to Filoni in The Clone Wars animated movie, which subsequently launched the animated show of the same name. In Filoni’s capable hands, Ahsoka flourished into a remarkable character. Not only is she the heroine Lucas wanted for girls, everyone admires her.

There was some concern about how a character who started life as an animated figure would look in real life; casting Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano was a masterstroke. As an actress, she possesses the necessary depth and maturity to play Ahsoka at this stage of everyone’s favorite Togruta’s story.

Disney spared no expense in ensuring that live-action Ahsoka’s appearance was perfect. Her attire, down to the details of her lightsabers in the animated shows, was scrutinized and reproduced for live-action. The lightsabers look precisely like the ones in Star Wars Rebels. Super-fans may purchase high-quality replicas of these lightsabers at Galaxy’s Edge.

Her moves needed to be modified a tad from the animated series to the live-action version for obvious reasons such as science and, well, gravity. Her stunts and swordplay were still stunning to watch. Mainly we were all excited to see her again.

Ahsoka already cemented herself as an essential character within the Star Wars franchise via both The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. Though we only get Ahsoka for one episode in The Mandalorian, she plays an important part once again. She relays crucial information to the Mandalorian and the audience about everyone’s favorite character on the show, The Child.

Ahsoka is more impressive now because she gave us The Child’s real name, Grogu. She was able to communicate with him in a way that the titular character of The Mandalorian could not. Through Ahsoka, we also learn a bit of Grogu’s history.

There is a great deal of sadness within him. Grogu was raised in secret at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. Though he survived Order 66, he still lost everything at a very young age. Because of this trauma, Grogu lived the last decades of his life in constant fear. He went through some very dark and dire circumstances to survive.

Ahsoka explains to Din Djarin that Grogu has finally found in Din someone he can trust. She helps Din and the audience connect Grogu’s past to his current journey. She helps Din understand Grogu’s next steps. She even gets Grogu to reach out with the Force.

Based on this year’s Disney Investors Day extravaganza, we have confirmed that everyone’s favorite Togruta is getting her own series. The new show will debut around December of 2021. The logo design features elements from the World between Worlds, also known as the Vergence Scatter. Hopefully, we will learn the fate of Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn via her show. While Grogu will continue to be a rising star within the Star Wars franchise, Lucas and Filoni will ensure Ahsoka is more priceless than a kyber crystal.
