First Look At 'Obi-Wan Kenobi' Issue From 'Total Film'

A Beacon Of Hope

As we move closer to the May 27 release date of Obi-Wan Kenobi, information is beginning to speed up. We just saw that the next issue of Total Film, out on April 28, will be focused on the new Disney+ offering that is keeping every Star Wars fan on the edge of their seat with anticipation. This issue promises us exclusive interviews with Ewan McGregor, Hayden Christensen, and Deborah Chow. Sadly for American fans, it is a British publication so we will have to find a way to read it online. But don't be dismayed entirely, my fellow Americans, the exclusive first look at the covers of the new issue has arrived.

Since we are only four days from the release of the article, we thought it would be a good time to break down the cover and go a little into the depth about what will be included in the issue. Will Deborah Chow give us some information on the setting of the show or the general plot? Maybe Hayden will get a chance to break down his favorite episodes of The Clone Wars or Rebels, letting us know which episodes are going to influence what we see during the run of the show. We are very curious to see what the magazine will reveal in these interviews as the cover teases us with "Ewan McGregor grapples with his lightsaber- And Vader again..." We may get more Ewan talking about the characterization of Obi-Wan in the series as well. Maybe they will even tease us with some sparse details of “the rematch of the century” between Obi-Wan and Anakin that everyone is looking forward to.

The cover itself is noteworthy as well. It uses a photo from the series that we have never seen before, adding to the exclusivity of the material within the issue. If this is what they have put on the cover to sell copies, imagine the secrets that are within. Will we see new locations? Maybe we will see more photos of the mysterious cityscape we saw during the trailer for Obi-Wan Kenobi. Or we might get some new behind-the-scenes photos showing Hayden and Ewan palling around on set under Deborah's watchful eye. The only thing we can say for sure at this point is this issue of Total Film will leave us with more questions than answers.

The last thing of note on the cover for Star Wars viewers is the quote they included from Ewan's interview:

"...when Darth Vader was coming at me scared the [expletive] out of me."

This should get us excited for the eventual rematch between master and apprentice. Don't expect Obi-Wan to win so easily. This time, Darth Vader may be the one walking away thinking he had finished his old friend and mentor’s journey only to be surprised by his return in A New Hope. After all, Vader does seem surprised to feel his old master’s presence on the Death Star.

No matter what is in this newest scoop on Obi-Wan Kenobi, we hope you are just as ready for May 27 to get here as all of us at Culture Slate. With the release of Obi- Kenobi just around the corner and next month bringing Star Wars Day and Celebration Anaheim, it is no doubt a great time to be a fan of the franchise. This new issue of Total Film has not left Marvel and Pixar fans out either with new details about Doctor Strange 2 and Pixar's new film Lightyear. There is something for all of us to enjoy.

The new issue of Total Film hits newsstands on April 28 and should be available online as well.
