Fire Force Background

Fire Force is one of the stars of the anime industry. It started with Manga and later came into the anime industry. It's not an old manga though. The manga just came in 2015. At this point in time, there were not many major players in manga and the story of Fire Force pulled it off and started selling a good amount of books each month. Still, it took almost 3 years for the anime to come. The manga is based on science fiction, dark fantasy, and adventures. So here is the background of the Fire Force anime and manga below.

Manga

Fire Force is a Japanese manga series. It's also known as "En'en no Shobotai" and "Blazing Fire Brigade". It was written and illustrated by Atsushi Okubo. Kodansha published this manga in Shonen Weekly Magazine. The first chapter of this manga came in September 2015. It has a total of 28 tankbon volumes as of April 2021 because it's still an ongoing manga. In North America, Kodansha (USA branch) published this manga in the English language. The latest sales figures are not out right now. Still seeing the response, it's going smoothly.

Anime

Speaking of anime, it came after three years of manga series. It came on 6th July 2019 and ran till 12th December 2020. The anime has two seasons in total and the fun fact is both seasons are directed and written by different persons. Yuki Yase directed the first season of this anime and Tatsuma Minamikawa directed the second season of Fire Force anime. This is the same for the writers as well. Yamato Haijima wrote the story of the first season and Tatsuma Minamikawa wrote the second season's story. You can say Tatsuma took over the whole second season including directing and writing. This can be the reason why the first and second seasons feel so different from each other despite being the same anime. Anyway, David Production produced this anime and Funimation licensed it to stream this anime on their platform. Other than Funimation, Aniplus Asia and Adult Swim (Toonami) also licensed this anime to stream it on their platforms. But JNN (original network) aired this show on TV in Japan. It has a total of 24 episodes in the first season and 24 episodes in the second season.

Plot

The story starts with an event named "Great Disaster" that happened two hundred and fifty years ago, 50 years before Solar year 198. This event destroyed many nations and the majority of Planets inhabitable. The survivors took other refugees in the Tokyo Empire which is the only stable place during this event despite losing some of its landmasses. Tokyo Emperor Raffles invented a technology to power the country. There are more details available in the anime if I start giving all the details, the post will be too long to read.

The story starts with Shinra Kusakabe, a third-generation pyrokinetic youth. He also gained the nickname "Devil's Footprints for his abilities to ignite his feet at his own will. Shinra joined the fire company at a very young age. His main duty was to end the infernal attacks for good.

Final Words

The anime follows his story in the two seasons. The novel is ongoing so you can guess that there are more seasons to come although there is no official confirmation yet. But it's sure that the new season will hit the streaming platform soon.
