The crisp smell of bacon and fresh eggs hit his nose, reminding him that yet another day had come upon him. Feeling well rested, he pulled off his sheets, feeling the heat of the morning sun coming through the window hit his chest, his hair frazzled from the night’s rest. Stumbling down the steps, he hears his mother call in her usual chipper morning voice.

“Good Morning Miquel! Figured you might wake up to the smell of a fresh breakfast”, she exclaimed.

“And that I did! Yet another day here in Eden. Has dad left yet?”

“You know your father, he left for the shop an hour ago with today’s batch. You could stop by to see him on your way to school this morning, I’m sure he’d love to see you!”

“I just might have to then. I can leave a few minutes early!”

As he sat down, he felt the rumbling of steps coming down from upstairs, and giggly chatter as his two sisters came down for what he assumed was the same reason: a hearty and always delicious breakfast.

“Good morning you two! You look like you’re ready for yet another day of learning and maybe even calling discovery,” he said suggestively and almost sarcastically as to remind them of what was inevitable for them.

Their faces perked up with the excitement of this possibility.

Miquel liked to encourage his sisters towards finding their calling just as much as he attempted to encourage his own self towards the same goal hoping that maybe them being able to find it, might inspire his own conscious.

“Yes girls, but all in the appropriate time,” his mom reminded them as to not get their hopes up.

“Well now mom, don’t crush their dreams too soon! It’s an exciting time for all of us!” Miquel said.

See, Miquel was already nearing the end of his time in school, and most of his peers had already started pursuing their callings, and contributing as every citizen did once it was discovered. There was no expected timing, as each person’s conscious worked at it’s own, pre-designed pace and was not to be rushed.

“Miquel, do you think there will be another calling announcement ceremony at school today? I heard James might have discovered his this past week?” Josephine, his youngest sister, asked.

“You know, I think I heard him say something about that too. I don’t know, maybe? That would be exciting”, he said as his mom set down three plates of steaming eggs and bacon in front of the three of them now all sitting together at the table.

Everyone in Eden eventually discovered their calling - What their purpose was meant to be on earth. Miquel, was on the later side of this discovery, but no one would ever consider rushing this discovery as the creator made each of them with talents that would all be discovered in due time. Some children discovered their ability to create amazing music with instruments very early in their childhood, some, like his dad, discovered their “green thumb” in the garden, and some discovered their knack for technology and science once introduced in school.

Miquel had yet to determine his calling, and while it was never criticized he often found himself envious of others with early discovery. His heart was pure, and he only wanted to contribute towards the society that many before him had worked towards supporting. All in due time, and he knew that, but frustration was beginning to become a normal emotion for him to experience. His friend, Joshua, was always there to assure him of what he knew was true, and spend time with him discussing the frustration. But the natural tendency that was to want to serve the town, and betterment of the world pushed him more towards frustration than complacency.
