For the Western United States, some residents are wondering if we are entering a new age.

Others say that things here never change.

In the early 1900s, the Ford Motor Company invented the 'horseless carriage', or 'the automobile'. At the very least, Ford implemented the system to mass-produce such vehicles in an assembly line.

The Assembly Line system of manufacturing differed from previous production methods because each worker in the assembly line was only required to add one or two parts to each car, rather than building the entire vehicle.

Ford found that the assembly line reduced the overall cost of production, making the automobile available to the general public, rather than limiting availability to the wealthy few.

These days, the talk around business centers on the West Coast, such as Silicon Valley, is commercial Space Travel.

Pioneers of commercial space travel include Elon Musk, whose company, Tesla, builds electric-powered automobiles. Mr. Musk's Commercial Space Company is called 'SpaceX'.

Sir Richard Branson of the Virgin Companies, including Virgin Records and Virgin Atlantic Airlines, is also a space pioneer with Virgin Orbit and Virgin Galactic. Sir Branson caters to an exclusive audience with his $375,000 space journeys based in his spaceport in New Mexico.

Another big Silicon Valley name is Jeff Bezos of Amazon.com. Mr. Bezos, who recently lost half his fortune due to his divorce, is a founder of the space tourism company called 'Blue Origin'.

Of course, the commercial space program has not yet begun mass producing spaceships.

However, west coast residents are familiar with the famed movie Who Framed Roger Rabbit, regarding the conversion of Los Angeles light rail transit to a system of roadways as the world entered the automobile age approximately 100 years ago.

Today, as over one million acres of California land has recently burned in forest fires, the Western United States from California to Colorado begins the recovery process with the advent of commercial space tourism.
