Eagle-Eyed Fans Spot This 'Mandalorian' Cameo In 'Book Of Boba Fett'

Did You Catch This On First Watch?

Warning: The following article contains minor spoilers for The Book of Boba Fett Chapter 3: The Streets of Mos Espa. Reader discretion is, as always, advised, and don’t say we didn’t warn you.

Tatooine has been at the center of The Book of Boba Fett for a month now, though the planet had previously played host to many events from across the Saga. In fact, The Mandalorian went to the desert world a few times in its first two seasons. Why is this relevant, you ask? Because it ties into the cameo seen in the third episode of Boba Fett, that calls back to that other show. It’s not too long, it’s not the most important character, but it does help to give a sense of when this all takes place.

Once again: minor spoilers are ahead. During Chapter 3: The Streets of Mos Espa, Boba Fett is seen riding on a Bantha during a flashback. He’s in the city of Mos Eisley, of course, and at one point, a woman is seen in the background. This woman is seen walking with a contingent of pit droids, and she is only seen for a few moments. Don’t recognize her? Well, some other fans did recognize her from The Mandalorian. If you still don’t recognize her, then maybe this image will help you out;

This woman’s name is Peli Motto, and she is an engineer and mechanic. The pit droids you saw with her were her crew, though they are very expensive. She’s highly skilled at her job, and she knows how to get her money’s worth, so we recommend not trying to swindle her if you can. She also met Din Djarin in the flesh, during his mission to protect Grogu.

This would be her major contribution to the show, as she agrees to keep an eye on Grogu while Mando looks for some work. She does a pretty good job as well, refusing to compromise the child’s safety even when she was being held hostage by Toro Calican. Motto showed us that, even on a lawless planet such as Tatooine, where you can't count on most people, you can still find a friendly face whose last name isn’t Skywalker, and they'll have your back as well as any rebel ever could.

Peli Motto is far from a major character, as she’s just a mechanic from Tatooine, not a Jedi or a rebel. However, her appearance helps to give a timeline for Boba’s backstory, and for The Book of Boba Fett in general, as her meeting with Din Djarin happens before he meets Fennec Shand, who is injured and left for dead, until she is found by Boba Fett, making her his partner in the series proper. Besides, it is a neat little callback to The Mandalorian.

Are there any characters from The Mandalorian or other Star Wars stories that you would like to see cameo, or would you like to see someone else? With the brewing gang war between Daimyo Fett and the Pyke Syndicate, the call for muscle to back up Boba and Fennec, and the recent reemergence of Din Djarin, there's no telling who else might jump into the fray or what other twists and turns this story could take. Either way, here is hoping for an exciting culmination to The Book of Boba Fett. May the Force be with you.
