Welcome back, fellow Star Wars fans. Today, we are bringing you something a little special indeed. I would assume that, by now, we are all aware of the fabulous Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge? Well, if not, this is a themed area within the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California and the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida based on, you guessed it, Star Wars. It is basically heaven for Star Wars fans alike, as it brings a huge amount of the galaxy far, far away into real life for us to casually hang out at. It contains rides, restaurants, and shops inspired by the sets used onscreen, with others taking inspiration from places we see in the films and in other canonical stories. You can even build your own custom lightsaber.

You can go ahead and Google it yourself now to see what it looks like in real life. However, thanks to a new book called The Art of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge by Amy Ratcliffe, we now have access to some early concept art images, which just shows the effort that went into this attraction for the fans. Released April 27, this book comes fully packed with concept art and insights chronicling the journey the attraction took from idea to reality, with comments and tidbits from the very people who worked on it.

Ratcliffe herself told StarWars.com:

“Bringing The Art of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge together was such an undertaking from everyone involved. I conducted a ton of interviews with Walt Disney Imagineering and Lucasfilm geniuses, and I was continually grateful for how available everyone made themselves. And also I was super impressed with everyone’s long-term memory as we went back years and years to the beginning of ideas for what would become Galaxy’s Edge!”

This tells us that we aren't just going to see and read about what it is, but also find out what it is and what it also could have been, as no doubt everyone would have had their own ideas on how a certain parts should look and feel.

Scott Trowbridge, the portfolio creative executive for Walt Disney Imagineering (What a title!) has also added his own comments on how this upcoming book will also shine a light on those who worked on it and give them the recognition they deserve as well as highlighting just how many ideas where thrown around. He added:

“While guests and audiences always get to see the finished product, I’m excited to be able to share this rare glimpse into the creative process and to share how Imagineering develops a concept from the earliest brainstorms and sketches, to developing those into fully fleshed out and buildable designs.”

The book itself is set to contain art from every aspect of the entire lands development; shops, attractions, restaurants, etc. So much information is contained within the book, even the author was completely surprised by what had been unearthed.

So, without further ado, here is a small taste of some of the beautiful pieces of work in store for anyone picking this book up:

As you can see from the photos above, it is clear it is always in good hands. These people, who we sadly don't know enough about, have demonstrated that they understood the source material and wanted to ensure fans expectations were met as much as humanly possible so for this, I applaud them and can't wait for my copy of the book.
