Buying land on mars

why mars , and not other planets ?

after the earth , mars is the most habitable planet in our solar system due to several reason :

• Its soil contain water to extract
• It isn't too cold or too hot
• There is enough sunlight to use solar panels
• Gravity on mars is 38% of that of our earth's which is believed by many to be sufficient for the human body to adapt
• It has an atmosphere that offers protection from cosmic and the suns radiation
• the day is very similar to our earth a mars day is 24 hours ,39 minutes and 35 seconds

Can i buy land on mars ?

There are least couple of companies who will sell you land on mars .You get a pretty "tittle document" and a map and everything.

Sadly international law basically says this isn't going to work.

If you bought a land on mars , what would happen would be this:

1. You pay some company money for an acre of land on Mars.
2. They send you a title document - which they printed and signed…and a map. showing where “your” land is.
3. Then…suppose some Mars explorer lands on Mars, slap in the middle of “your” acre and starts building a colony there.
4. You send them a copy of your title document and demand a million dollars per year in rent - or that they move their colony someplace else.
5. They completely ignore you.
6. You take them to court. The courts say “Sorry we have no jurisdiction over Mars - bye, bye - have a nice day.”
7. So now what? No country on earth will issue title documents that you COULD defend in court - because they signed international laws saying they wouldn’t do that…
8. So you’re basically screwed. Your title document is worth literally nothing.

It has been the case that several companies have been selling land on the Moon as well - and it’s been shown that they are ALL selling the same bits of land to different people. So now several people have equally worthless pieces of paper describing the SAME pieces of land.

So - if ANYONE tries to sell you land on Mars - you know, for 100% certain, that this is a scam.

Same deal with people selling the rights to name stars or asteroids…the only organization that can name heavenly bodies is the IAU (International Astronomical Union) - and they only give naming rights to the discoverer of the object - and they take a very dim view of them selling that naming right to anyone else.

Private companies will be able to set up shops on mars mine it and lay claim to those resources , but won't be able to own the land.

for those who really want a mars land deed with their name on it there's nothing wrong with buying one .It's a novelty item that might make a nice gift for a person who has everything .But its just for fun .The documents wont be recognised by any government authority as legitimate or legally binding.
