The most intense of the zodiac

If you know anything about me, you know I love astrology. Its always been an interest of mine, and as I’ve gotten older, I’ve begun to actually study it. Everything from discussing the typical traits and behaviors of each sun sign, to interpreting birth charts and numerology- it all peaks my interest. However, nothing captivates my attention more than understanding more about my own astrological make up.

I am a Scorpio born in November. I have always resonated with being a Scorpio, even when my understanding of the various astrology signs was minimal, I knew that I connected deeply to my sign. Scorpios are known for being passionate, mysterious, honest, loyal and all types of extreme. They have their dark side (but who doesn’t?), are intense and can be accidentally secretive. Scorpios are also known for drawing others in without trying, which has definitely proven true in my experience.

The older I get, the more I resonate with my Scorpio traits. I haven’t realized how reserved I was until recently, and was more unaware how “mysterious” this made me appear to those around me. I’ll take all my friends secrets to my grave, and loyalty is everything to me- betrayal makes my blood boil and, on the less proud side, brings out my sense of resentment for anyone who crosses my boundaries or betrays my trust. Scorpios usually receive a lot of heat from other zodiac signs for just how intense we can be, and this is something that holds true in my personal life as well. I can come across cold, serious, or even cynical; I either attract others or scare them away and all of this, I feel, gives me power and an edge most others cannot conjure up themselves.

Being a Scorpio is all about being passionate and there is nothing I involve myself with that I do not feel passion for. Without even thinking about it, I release anything that does no light my soul on fire when thinking about it- friends, relationships, studies, hobbies- all of it. It just simply is not in my nature to do things half-ass. I am certain in my ways and go about everything with a “if you want it, go get it” attitude.

I actually consider being a Scorpio as almost a super power all in its own and I take pride in my Scorpio characteristics. I also identify with my other major signs. Something I was unaware of for many years is that there are various aspects in our astrological make up, beyond our sun sign (what we know to be our zodiac sign). Every planet in your chart is in the position of one of the zodiac signs, and affects us in different ways. While that’s another story in itself, your “big three,” is perhaps the easiest place to start. Your “big three” is comprised of you sun, rising and moon signs. I am a Scorpio sun, Leo rising (ascendant) and an Aries moon. Each aspect of your big three, like all the other planetary alignments in your chart, represent a different area of “you,” or your life. I have the confidence and self-love of a Leo and the firey attitudes of an Aries. However, nothing feels more “me” than being a Scorpio.

I believe knowing your own astrological make up allows anyone to know and understand themselves better, learn their strengths and harness their attributes unique to them. There are so many other factors to consider when understanding yourself, or someone else astrologically and how that shapes them as a person than just their sun or star sign. However, your sun sign is the ultimate face of you and who you are to the world. Know who you are, embrace it and refine all the strengths the universe has offered to you.
