Awesome Rex And Ahsoka Kotobukiya ARTFX Figures Revealed

Wow!

Comic-Con season is upon us, and it would not be Comic-Con without dozens of stunning figures flooding the halls of the convention center and images of them on every social media platform. With SDCC being postponed until next year, there was a toy-shaped hole in the heart of this summer season. However, you should not fret because several toy companies have revealed some stellar figures that would be worthy of the Comic-Con halls, and no toy reveal would be complete without a few Star Wars toys in the mix. One of these companies is Kotobukiya who just revealed their new Captain Rex and Ahsoka Star Wars figures, and they look absolutely incredible.

The ARTFX Captain Rex and Ahsoka figures both feature amazing craftsmanship. Rex stands in a combat pose sporting his iconic pistols. He also appears to have a removable helmet. Ahsoka, on the other hand, is in her classic kneeling saber pose, (which I would like to coin as an actual fighting pose). However, she is wielding her blue lightsabers as opposed to her green or white ones. It is worth noting that these figures are just prototypes, and the website points out that the final products may vary depending on licensing approval. While there is still time for changes to be made the release date is currently set for January 2022 in Japan. There is no word on the North American release as of yet. The figures will also be 1/7 scale, approximately 258 mm tall, and they will be made out of PVC if that tickles your collector fancy. There does not seem to be any word on prices as of yet, but I am sure those details will be revealed closer to the release date. Kotobukiya also gives us a quick blurb about the figures and the characters.

“From the final season of the popular animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Captain Rex is joining the ARTFX line!”

It then goes on to give us some background on Rex’s character.

“CT-7567, better known as Rex, often takes his orders from Anakin Skywalker or Ahsoka Tano. Of all the clone soldiers that appear throughout the series, Rex is one of the most unique, with his unwavering loyalty and fighting style. Promoted to Commander by Anakin, Rex joins Ahsoka in a battle to free Mandalore and capture Darth Maul.”

Both figures look incredible, and their base-plates can snap together to create a cool scene of the two striking battle-ready poses, depending on how you want to display your collections. Unfortunately, the two figures are sold separately. I do think they look just as good together as they do separately.

Ahsoka and Rex are not the only Star Wars characters getting figures from Kotobukiya. They will also be releasing Clone Wars ARTFX versions of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker later this year. In August 2021 we will get Mandalorian and Grogu figures. There is also a classic color Boba Fett already available. Their Qui-Gon Jinn figure was also released in December of last year. Kotobukiya is not exclusive to Star Wars, either. They are known for amazing figures from dozens of franchises. They have Batman figures, Wonder Woman figures, countless anime figures, Megaman figures, and several other figures from Marvel and DC. All of them look truly spectacular, with stellar craftsmanship.

Astute Star Wars fans will know the major role that Star Wars played in the toy market and how much the toy market contributed to the success of Star Wars. It sets precedence for toys and action figures that have continued to this day. It is great to see that Star Wars still has a great toy presence and does not seem to be going anywhere.

The Kotobukiya Rex and Ahsoka figures will be available January 2022, and I am certainly looking forward to it. In the meantime, I highly recommend checking out other amazing figures in their product line as well.
