The Book of Revelation states that seven trumpets are sounded one at a time to cue apocalyptic events seen by John of Patmos --Revelation 1:9 in his vision Revelation 1:1. Seven angels sound the seven trumpets and the possibilities are described in Revelation 8-11.

According to Revelations, the angels sound these trumpets after breaking the seventh seal, which secures the apocalyptic document held in the right hand of Him who sits on the throne. The final three trumpets are the ¨woe trumpets¨.

The first trumpet signifies hail and fire mingled with blood thrown to Earth, burning up to a third of the trees and grass.

The second trumpet, there is ¨a great mountain burning with fire¨, and plunges into the sea and turns a third of the ocean to blood. Some believe the great mountain is an asteroid.

The third trumpet, a great start called Wormwood, falls to the Earth, poisoning a third of the planet's freshwater sources—possibly a nuclear disaster.

The fourth trumpet, a third of the light from the Sun, moon, and stars, becomes dark from the celestial bodies being ¨struck¨, which will cause complete darkness for a third of the day. The final trumpet before the woes is the 5th, 6th, and 7th trumpet.

The fifth trumpet, or the ¨first woe¨. This prompts a personified star to fall from heaven and is given the key to the bottomless pit, and when it is opened, the smoke that rises out of the pit darkens the air and blocks the Sun. With that, then the locusts are unleashed.

The sixth trumpet, the ¨second woe¨. Four angels are released from their binds in the ¨great river Euphrates¨. They command a force of two hundred million mounted troops, and horses exude plagues of fire, smoke, and brimstone from their mouths.

The seventh trumpet ¨third woe¨. The final trumpet, a loud voice in heaven, will say:

"The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and His Messiah, and He will reign forever and ever¨.

However, these trumpets can be interpreted differently depending on religion and faith. Some Christians believe it is a call to wake up the sinners on the Earth, and each plague will bring more natural disasters. Each is worse than before.

The seventh trumpet does not bring plague; it is a sound that glory is given to God, and His kingdom is announced.

However, sounds have become so common and are heard worldwide. Many have been recording sounds from the sky, with no explanation of the sound or where it is coming from.

Sometimes, the sounds are musical; other times, they are an eerie presence or warnings from the sky. Some even sound like the roaring of an animal. Possibly the sound of a dragon, which in Revelations does represent Satan.

Some have claimed that it is related to weather, but the sounds come in all types of weather: clear days and cloudy, rainy days. Scientists also say that they are associated with the moving of the Earth and are a geological event. However, many are not convinced that it is geological since sometimes the sounds continue for long periods.

These sounds have been passed down through generations, so they are familiar. Even the Iroquois Tribe warned the new settlers about the sounds from the sky. The Iroquois believed it was the great Spirit, and the Word was still in creation. However, there has been no explanation of what causes these noises.

Some explanations are that they have to do with the Earth's magnetic field and are referred to as skyquakes again; some explain them as technotic plates shifting, causing the noises. It is also heard all over the world, with no geological explanation.

However, many also wonder if the sounds are related to extraterrestrials, as the strangest sound ever recorded came from outer space. In 1977, Astronomer Jerry Ehman scanned radio signals from deep space and volunteered with Ohio University's Big Ear Telescope through the Search For Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI).

He was explicitly listening for alien life, and on August 15, he found something. A reading that was higher than any they had ever registered before. It lasted for 72 seconds and was 30 deviations more elevated than the ordinary sound setting, almost an impossible finding. It was named the WOW signal.

He knew that there was a slight chance of it being background noise, and he thought it was artificial. They also predicted the concentration of the signal, which is how a signal from another world would look. It was not if it was a natural, even if it would have been heard on other frequencies.

SETI tried to capture the sound again, but they never heard the same signal again. However, in 2012, a response was sent by the Arecibo Telescope with a beamed message toward the constellation Sagittarius, the source of the original signal. The message included 10k and messages from celebrities.

Some of these sounds have been debunked; in 2011, a report from the USGS stated that skyquakes could be caused by shallow earthquakes, spontaneous rock bursts triggered by mining, or even giant waves breaking offshore. The thunderlike sounds could also be thunder.

Most who have heard the sounds feel that it is an apocalyptic sound and fear the end of the world is near. However, this prediction has been happening since the beginning of time, but one day, they will be right; we just don't know when.
