Fantasy jewelry consists of several elements, each of which has different symbolic meanings. Those who choose such jewelry, want to capture something with each of them, to highlight not only their style but also their values.

Bracelets, necklaces and rings with various mythical creatures and elements are addressed to special people who want to communicate something specific by wearing them.

Let's see below what exactly this is.

Bats

A legendary animal in Chinese culture is the bat. According to the Chinese, bats, which live in stalactite caves, acquire medical value. The bat is an auspicious symbol, as (in Chinese language) the sound of the character for a bat (bian "fu") coincides with the character for "luck".

Since ancient times, amulets and bat images have been used in Chinese homes as symbols of happiness and longevity.

Dragons

The dragons of the Far East are symbols of imperial power, representing the good energy. In China and Japan, dragon culture is associated with prosperity and good fortune, so dragon jewelry has the use of an amulet and are an integral part of feng shui.

On the other side, the European dragons are considered as the personification of the devil, the creatures that fired from their mouths and killed innocent people. Thus, they have a completely different symbolic meaning from the Asian dragons, being part of Gothic culture with its dark elements and occultism.

Skulls

A skull on a ring does not represent death but immortality. Plus, it recognizes mortal fate and represents human equality. Memento mori as the saying goes, meaning that every human being has to remember that you (have to) die, a symbolic reminder of a certainty in life. This is why it is a part of metal and hard rock music scene, travelling us back in time and combing power with the philosophical acceptance of mortal life.

The idea of Memento mori gain popularity in the late 16th century, when people started to quote it on skull jewelry, coffin motifs and of course gravestones. Remember that you have to die, as it’s clear to anyone that when an hourglass gets upside down it’s simply a matter of time on when the last grain of sand will denote the end of time.

Vikings

Norse religion was the main motivator and fuel for Vikings’ tendency towards warfare and violence, focusing on Thor and Odin – the gods of was and death. Fantasy jewelry from the rich historical tradition of the Vikings, such as the Pendant Necklace of Thor, are fashionable since decades. It is believed that such a necklace can protect the wearer from many afflictions and give him Thor’s strength to achieve his goals.

Former name for this hammer is Mjölnir, it was used both as a devastating weapon and as a divine relic to give blessings to those who needed it. It was worn as a pendant during the Viking Age in the Scandinavian culture. Up to this day, Thor’s hammer is worn as a pendant by anyone who’s inspired by Norse culture.

Wolves

The symbol of wolf is rich in various meanings. Many people accept this animal and respect it deeply for its intelligence.

The wolf is a spiritual and mysterious animal. We find the wolf in many ancient civilizations and legends, and this is why it is difficult to give a single meaning to this kind of wolf jewelry.

It has, indeed, several positive meanings, such as respect, intelligence, freedom, courage, and fidelity, but it is also associated to negative meanings, such as hardness. However, this symbol is attractive for people who want to express their toughness.
