After 'The Rise Of Skywalker,' Daisy Ridley Wasn't Sure What To Do With Herself

Things Were Changing

When Disney announced that they were making an Episode VII for Star Wars, fans from all walks of life began asking, what will the future of Star Wars will look like? When the official trailer for Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens dropped, fans got their first look at our new heroes. One in particular gained the love from everyone instantly. That, of course, was Rey, portrayed by actress Daisy Ridley.

Ridley’s character of Rey gained popularity, as her character is sweet, charming, and very relatable. She had a fun ride while working in the sequel trilogy, yet, as we all know, all good things must come to an end. After the final installment of the Skywalker saga, Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker, was released in December of 2019, Ridley did not know what to do with all her spare time.

While she was filming the sequel trilogy, she found herself working endlessly, training, and attending premieres, which is all exhausting work. Yet the humble actress enjoyed her time working, and now, that was all over. With so much time on her hands, the actress felt like she had lost a part of her life, as she explained in an interview with Who What Wear:

“I guess it was sort of like grieving. These relationships and this amount of time had come to an end. It really felt like I was letting go of something emotionally.”

Ridley had several projects in mind to start after Star Wars, yet when the 2020 pandemic hit the world, it all came cycling back again. Although times have been rough around the world, Daisy still has a film coming up in March titled Chaos Walking. Based on a novel and filmed before the pandemic, it stars Ridley alongside Spidey himself Tom Holland.

Ridley’s situation is a good example of the saying “You never know what you have until you don’t.” When she was working endlessly, I’m sure she constantly wished for an extra hour of sleep, a day to relax, or just some free time. Yet now that all the work is over, she has way too much free time, to the point of wishing the pressure was back. Hopefully after Chaos Walking and everything that has been happening, Daisy can be back in the game. Once back, I’m sure she wouldn't be missing having to do a huge amount of free time any time soon.

Whether you love or hate Rey, we can all agree that Daisy brought a sense of charisma to the character, and made all of us excited to see her on screen. Yes, the sequel trilogy has many flaws, and yes, the characters could have been more developed. But the hard work that all the actors put into their roles is something to commemorate.

Right now, the future for the sequel trilogy era remains in the shadows, as Lucasfilm is dedicating more of their time to TV shows closer to the prequel and original trilogies, such as The Mandalorian, Ahsoka, and, arguably the most anticipated of these series, Obi-Wan Kenobi. Although we all know some of our beloved actors from the sequel trilogy like Adam Driver, John Boyega, and Daisy Ridley herself won’t be coming back to the universe of Star Wars (at least anytime soon), their characters will live in the hearts of Star Wars fans who connected with them.

As one chapter in Daisy Ridley’s life closes, another one opens. Lots her her loyal fans are very excited to see her alongside another equally beloved actor, Tom Holland, in this new epic sci-fi adventure. Ridley is a very committed actress, and we all can be sure that she won’t disappoint us, and that she will keep giving us reasons to love her even more.
