A lone soldier wakes amid a smoldering battlefield, small fires all around, wounded and wailing men and women all strewn about. Vehicles set smoldering from heavy weapons fire.

He finally finds the communication vehicle and it is in worse shape than all the others . He finds a short range battle communication which will work if he can get close enough to another working communication vehicle.

With communication found he goes about rounding up enough supplies and a working pulse rifle and what few explosives that were left unused. With enough charge packs found and a case of combat ration bars he starts storing everything for the long journey to the rally point .

Twenty-nine hours earlier Rex our lone soldier was informed that the Lycan troops (federal funded genetically modified) mercenaries were pushing through the colonies killing everyone and everything that lives. They were rolling through all the small outposts with hardly any resistance, at the rate of their movement they would be on top of us soon . We loaded the trucks and we're bugging out when our forward listening post radioed in saying they spotted the advance team of the Lycans. We decided to leave one hundred men to defend our escape, they were volunteers of course because we knew what it meant to stay.

We made it near on ten hours out when our defense team sent there final transmission that the Lycans had breached the defense grid and was busy slaughtering anyone left standing.

Our air support finally met up with us and took on all the irreplaceable gear and all but a driver and Gunner per vehicle. We still had a three day journey by land, wished we had more jumpers, only an hour ride by them.

The next day goes by with no incident. We stand to grab some rations and head for the next safe haven from the Federal's satellite. We have to cover twice the ground to stay on the protected paths. Good thing the satellites have a hard time reading the mountains with all the raw ore contained in them. Funny the very thing that allowed us to become a space capable race is the very thing killing our people. The deeper the plunge the more toxins are released into the atmosphere.

We made it to the next safe haven and only lost one transport to the way there. An old bridge was more ice than wood and finally gave way as the last one was crossing. The driver was lucky enough to dive out and grab onto the railings as his back treads started falling through the baseboards.

We all crashed around 2000 hours except the transport team that lost their vehicle, they volunteered to stand watch all night if they could snooze all day. Everyone was all for it, it had been three years since anyone had a full night's sleep.

Next day same routine , we were busy hauling ass through one of the lower valley roads trying to shave off some time when our lead vehicle was hit with a plasma burst from the Lycans heavy weapons platform that just dropped it's shielding and was pounding us with a sustained barrage that just crippled our vehicles. We evacuated and tried returning fire but all we had was our plasma rifles and our blaster pistols which do pack quite a punch but still could not even dent the armor on the platform. So now we are all up to speed 😀.
