The second season of Disney+ā€™s The Mandalorian just wrapped up a few weeks ago. We all might be experiencing some sadness and nostalgia as we reminisce and wait for the third season in order to interact with cute baby Yoda again.

Even though critics have termed the series to be shallow, lacking the depth and intertwines of other stories from the Star Wars Universe, the storyline has been progressive in revealing details about the adorable baby Yoda.

I love the little green guy. He is as cute as a button and he really makes anyone watching him want to hug him tight and to protect him from all the bad guys in the universe.

When we first got introduced to him as a bounty that the Mandalorian had been hired to bring back to the empire, many questions lingered on my mind regarding his story. Where he was from, and how he had gotten to be in that situation. And wanting to know more about him has glued us to our screens for two years now. A lot has already been revealed at the end of the second season. We do not know everything yet, and we will keep watching to satisfy our curiosities.

Here is what we know about baby Yoda so far.

He is 50 years old

His age was revealed to us during the first season. He might still look and act like a baby but he is 50 years old. The explanation we are given is that species in the star wars universe age differently. For him to be 50 and still a baby, it might imply that members of his species get to live very long as in the case of Yoda from the other films in the star wars franchise.

He likes to eat frogs

And their eggs for that matter! In the first season, we can see him gulping and swallowing whole frogs that he meets along his way.

In the second season after him and the Mandalorian have to take a passenger with him on their journey to seeking a suitable home for him, the passenger turns out to be a female frog transporting her last eggs to the planet her husband is working in to ensure their survival.

Sneaky baby Yoda does his tricks and gulps a couple to the total amusement of us viewers. At the end of the episode, he gets to play with the tadpoles of the remaining eggs that hatch at the frogs home. So maybe we can forgive him for sneaking around and stuffing his cute tummy with another motherā€™s kids in waiting.

He can understand

Even though he isnā€™t vocal yet, baby Yoda can in his own way communicate with those around him. He helps the Mandalorian mend his ship even though unsuccessfully for the most part. He also communicates with the Jedi they meet using the force which leads to her knowing his name.

He also responds to his name when called telling us that he can understand. I was worried that he was passive.

He has the force

This was completely mind-blowing when it was revealed to viewers in the first season. Even if he hasnā€™t mastered it yet, baby Yoda can do amazing things with the force. He helped stop an animal from attacking the Mandalorian, he healed a member of their entourage and he also used the force to contact the Jedi who came looking for him in the Empireā€™s ship.

He is a true baby

When he cutely throws a tantrum after being taken away while in the middle of playing with the newly hatched baby frogs, he sends us into bouts laughter because of how baby-like he acts. Entitled and too adorable.

He also plays around with the Mandalorianā€™s ship touching buttons here and there in the cockpit just like a baby would. When he is warned to stay away from the frog eggs of their passenger in the second season, he does not listen and grabs some for himself which we can see him gulping later. Babies tend to do this. It can be annoying but also adorable.

He knows what he wants

When we see the cute little thing seek out the Mandalorianā€™s permission for him to go with the Jedi at the end of the second season, we can see that he knows what he wants and he is not just a spectator in his life.

He also has a favourite toy which is a knob on one tool of the Mandalorianā€™s ship.

The cutest thing about him knowing what he wants is when in the second season, he is in class with these kids and one refuses to share a snack with him. The baby uses the force to grab the snacks for himself and proceeds to munch on them leaving us viewers chuckling.

His name is Grogu

In the second season after The Mandalorian manages to track down his first Jedi, we learn of baby Yodaā€™s name. He uses the force to communicate with the Jedi who then reveals the name to Mando. Cute little thing even answers to it when you call him. Itā€™s the sweetest thing ever!

Even if we know his name now, I am pretty sure he is always gonna be baby Yoda to us star wars fans. Even the Mandalorian still calls him ā€˜kidā€™.

He is safe

After a two-season journey that began with us being introduced to baby Yoda, vulnerable, frightened and afraid and in the hands of people that did not have his best interests at heart, we feel some sense of joy, relief and contentment when he is finally in the hands of a Jedi at the end of the second season.

Or we hope so because the guy that took him came out of nowhere and his background has not yet been explored at this point.

We hope that poor baby Yoda used his force properly to identify the Jedi before consenting to leave with him.

We do hope that he is safe for real and we canā€™t wait for the third season to find out.
