10 Reasons Aliens Would Invade Earth

Whether they actually will or not remains yet to be seen.

Science fiction thrives off the idea that someday aliens are going to conquer the Earth. Whether they actually will or not, remains yet to be seen. If they were to invade, what logical reason would they have? Why would beings from a distant and technologically advanced civilization go to the expense and effort just to invade Earth?

We’ve Got the Goods

NASA is frequently making new monumental discoveries in space, the latest being the first-ever direct detection of gravitational waves—ripples that stretch and compress space itself. Scientists have also recently discovered a potentially habitable planet orbiting the star nearest to the Earth's sun. What if alien life has discovered something new about Earth and what our planet holds? If Earth is the only planet that has the one thing they desperately need, they're not going to hesitate to come and take it. We’re not so innocent, we've done it before… many times. Why shouldn't they?

They’re Into Domination

In science fiction, it's a common scenario that one species will enslave another. It's possible that aliens have been watching us for a while now and think we might make the perfect species to do their bidding. Since most humans would be scared shitlesss in the face of aliens, they’ve probably figured they could get us to do whatever they want. Would you refuse? However, with their advanced technology, you would think they’d build some type of machinery that would work far more efficiently. So why humans? We’re hard working, but only to an extent, not to mention, we're pretty high-maintenance. I think more than anything, they'd enslave us for pure enjoyment. Some humans get off on the whole idea of domination, so who's to say aliens are any different? Maybe they’re looking for a dominating companionship from another species, like humans have with animals. Some of us would make pretty good pets…

To Prevent Us From Harming the Earth and Depleting Our Resources

I could see this as being very possible. As humans, we do take a lot of things for granted. If we're seen as an invasive species or a threat to the galaxy because of how we take advantage of the Earth, why wouldn't they wipe us off the face of it? Look at global warming or the depletion of the ozone layer. Who's to say that this isn't having an adverse affect on extraterrestrial life? We really can't say for sure, can we?

They're Hungry - or “Hangry”

Did you know that human flesh is very nutritious? Ask any cannibal, they won’t hesitate to tell you. If humans became a food source for an alien species, they sure as hell wouldn't have to worry about starving. With our ever increasing population, we'd provide many a good meal, a billion times over. The Earth could actually become the first drive by fast food joint in the galaxy. Order up!

For Our Genes

Scene from TV show V - 1984-1985

Our DNA could prove useful to extraterrestrial life. If our genes were transplanted into an alien species, who knows what could happen. Will little half-alien/half-human babies exist, similar to what happened in the sci-fi TV show from the 80’s, V? This is a little far-fetched because there are a lot of factors that would play into whether this is even possible. Aliens would need to have the same organizational structure of our DNA, and procreation would be impossible in that case, but who knows, we may be more structurally compatible than we think.

They Want to Come Home

Suppose they need a place to call home. The Earth would be useful if habitable planets were hard to come by. Our biochemistry may be somewhat similar, making it less difficult to modify our planet to make it habitable for alien life. Like retirees that head to Florida, maybe Earth is like a rare gem, making it a desirable place to live. If they were to inhabit the Earth, looking for a place to stay permanently, I don't think they'd be concerned about the consequences for human life at all. Do we care about bugs, animals, birds and their homes when we cut down trees or invade the area to build new houses? How would human life be any different?

They're Afraid of Us

Humans are very intimidating to other species on Earth. We hunt and kill animals, we squash bugs, we clear out land, cut down trees. We also don't give a shit about our environment and we take our resources for granted. Now, most things we do as a means to survive, but it's the million other things that can be seen as a threat. We can't say for sure that what we're doing to our environment isn't going to affect other life forms in space. If alien life believes that what we're doing as a planet is going to harm them or something else, we may be screwed. They may be afraid of us, but they won't be afraid to get rid of us, if they see us as a threat.

Amusement

We see this scenario played out in sci-fi movies all the time. As far as we know, we're the only planet in our solar system that has actual living beings inhabiting it. If extraterrestrials are bored or in need of some excitement, we'd probably be their first choice to screw with. It's like using a magnifying glass to mess with ants. Why do little boys do that? Just because… It's entertaining and it's something to do. It's scary to think about, but that's really all there is to it.

Information

It’s like that good old scenario, you have the lock, but I hold the key. If we know something they don't, maybe life altering information or something, they may pay us a visit and demand some info.

Revenge

It's speculated that extraterrestrials had something to do with life on Earth and that extraterrestrial civilizations resided on Earth at one time. Who knows what we could have done years ago? Did we destroy alien life on Earth? Did we somehow take over this planet billions of years ago and kick them off? We basically don't know jack shit about anything. Everything we do, and everything we know, is based on pure speculation. We can say what we think we know, but do we really know for sure? No. Maybe alien life sees this as payback time for what we've done to their ancestors. Could they have been holding a grudge against us for years?

So, in plain terms, can any of this really happen? We don't know... period. And that’s what is absolutely terrifying. It’s just a game of wait and see.
