Gilli ran as hard and fast as she could to get away from Johnny. Reaching the safety of her backyard, Gilli's young body collapsed to the ground where she felt she would remain motionless for the rest of her life.
There was an immense aching as if her heart were trying to escape her body. Unable to breath, Gilli could only lay there in a pool of sorrow and heartache so great that she could only imagine never wanting to live another day.
Eleven years old is far too young to have your innocence robbed from the rigours of love.
