YOU

poem

YOU
Photo by Walid Hamadeh on Unsplash

you're a walking

ball

of contradiction

your thoughts

grin through

sharpened teeth

you are

two versions

of what

you're

selling

with apologies

prepared

to cover

what you didn't

mean

You wear every

bad decision

like a smile

on your face

you've prepared

a frickin' eulogy

and I'm not

even in the

grave

you've perfected

petty crimes

while

someone else

is doin' time

and then

you

smugly

wink your eye

because it's

someone else's

dime

you dress yourself

in virtue

combing each hair

neatly in

its place

with trouble

waitin' right

outside

I can hear it

call

your name

you raise your glass

and make a

toast

with accolades

that you don't

mean

because it's only

you, you love

the most

you're simply oiling

the machine

then you

erase all

the evidence

perfecting perceived

innocence

confusing trust

for ignorance

doubting

that we've got

any

common sense

so, please save

your lame excuses

the pudding is where

all of the

proof is

I've got a

rock you can

crawl under

you brought the

storm...

but -

I am the

THUNDER
