Wrong Numberđź“–
Some calls don’t come from this world

1:44 AM.
His phone rang.
Unknown number.
Half-asleep, he answered.
No voice.
Just slow, muffled breathing—wet and deep, like someone too close to the mic.
Then a low scrape.
Metal against wood.
It made his skin crawl.
He hung up.
Probably a prank, he thought.
But he couldn’t fall back asleep.
The next night: 1:44 AM.
Same number.
Same breathing.
But this time, something new—a whisper.
It was distorted, glitchy.
But he could make out a single word:
Look.
He sat up in bed.
Look where?he whispered.
No answer.
Just the soft sound of dragging... getting closer.
He turned on the lights. Checked every room.
Nothing.
He blocked the number.
The calls didn’t stop.
Now it said: UNKNOWN.
Sometimes: NO CALLER ID.
Sometimes: ME.
One night, the call didn’t come.
He relaxed.
But at exactly 1:44 AM, his phone lit up again.
Not a call. A video.
He played it.
It showed his room. From above.
Like it was recorded from the ceiling.
He looked up. Nothing there.
Looked back at the screen—
Now the camera was behind him.
He turned around—
Nothing.
Until the final second of the video.
A pale hand, crawling out from under his bed.
The next day, he bought a new phone.
New number. New SIM.
Problem solved.
That night, the screen lit up.
1:44 AM.
INCOMING CALL FROM: YOU.
