Why ears exist on heads.

Long ago, there was more equality between men and the other beasts.

All beasts were trying to make their way in the world. There would be squabbles and tiffs, but it all worked out. No creature dominated the other.There was a symbiotic relationships between all of them.

Eons later man would pillage and plunder the rest of his fellow beasts and establish dominion over them.Even the ones who sided with him. But that is a different story for another day. This one is a more interesting one that show why we have ears on our heads and not any other part of the body.

One day two beasts came face to face for the first time. One was with three main body parts- She had a head, then a thorax, then an abdomen. She had six long legs that helped her walk, plus two beautiful wings to help her fly, and not forgetting the antennae that grew from the tips of her head. She had spiracles across the sides of her body to help her breathe. Oh and she used her knees to hear.

The second creature was a hairy creature which had only a head and then something of a thorax and abdomen squashed up together and then two pairs of legs. One came from below the thorax-abdomen and as used for locomotion. Another pair sprouted from each side of thorax-abdomen. He had his hearing, seeing, and breathing sections all on his ugly head. he couldn't fly either.

They were of equal height. They had never seen each other before and like many creatures which see each other for the first time, they were going to fight. By which I mean simply argue.At least for now.

The first beast came up and opened her mouth. She was about to say something, but then remembered that it could be considered rude. She was taught to respect all creatures in spite of how ugly they were. She believed in true beauty.

However the second beast bellowed loudly "Ewwww....disgsuting!"

"What an ugly beast." he started.

The first beast covered her knees.

"What are you doing?" asked the second "Are you so ugly that your legs can't support you?"

The first beast was hurt but she tried to not show it.

She tried to keep her cool. However the second beast soon came up and started poking at her wings.

Finally she had had enough.

"I am a beautiful creature. I am multicolored and I can fly and I look much better than you. You don't possess the ability to fly and you slink on the ground and drag the ends of your limbs there" she fought back.

"Says the one who looks like a piece of plant" shouted the second best and launched an attack.

She had been taught to only use this when threatened, and that it had consequences. But this hairy creature was gaining on her.

Worried for her safety, she had no other choice. She let out a battle cry and released her jet of liquid. It flew through the air and landed on the hairy creature's face.

The creature ran away screaming, thinking it had been poisoned. But no,she had only temporarily subdued him. Thinking nothing else of it, she moved on with her life.

That was her first mistake. For this creature never forgot. He taught the story to its descendants and clans people. Soon, they went on the offensive and gathered an army of creatures that were similar to them. The ones who saw, heard and breathed through their heads and no other body. They called themselves the All-head-senses.

Soon they got their revenge by killing the clans people of our first beast and those like her. But this just fed their blood lust.They started indiscriminately killing all those who were different to them. They killed the eight legged clans and drove many other clans like the shelled ones and the smooth skinned ones into the water.

Over time, only the smaller relatives of these creatures existed. Either hiding due to their size or in the water. The second beast had created his first kingdom.

So this is why ears exist on heads. At least mainly. Because this hairy second creature could not tolerate difference and drove the numbers of those who had ears on other parts of the body into hiding and created disequilibrium in the realm of the beasts.

The second creature would become man and further persecute the other beasts even those who looked, acted, and thought like him and betray them. But thats another story.
