Monday:

Amir turned off Earl The Sports Guy Sports broadcast at 1:20 pm and began his daily workout regiment. Amir worked out vigorously, becoming very smelly. After an after work out stretch and cool-off session, Amir took a bath. It was 4:00 pm.

Amir had always loved fitness and every time he began to sweat he felt ten times better. His workout today was no different. After his bath, Amir ate dinner. Amir used the restroom at 7:30 pm and then turned on the TV after. Amir was watching sports Highlights again, and having an excellent time doing so. Amir later went to bed. As Amir drifted off into sleep he hoped tomorrow would be a more productive day.

Shorty after falling into a deep, peaceful sleep, Amir was abruptly awoken by a loud vibrant sound. It sounded like someone screaming "HUGO" into the wind. Once Amir awoke he saw the spooky dark eyes of a creature in the tree out front of his house. Amir was completely startled and reached for the light. When the light turned on Amir's eyes were drawn to his own handwriting. He was looking at the goals that he had written.

1. Get a Job at the Knowledge Center

2. Read a New book

3. Take a jog around CauZmic City

Amir felt as if he was in a trance for one moment before his attention sucked him back into his own fear. He peered out the window and saw a large spooky-looking owl on the tree. The creature's dark eyes peered at Amir and Amir became struck with fear. He was almost paralyzed by the scariness of the owl's dark eyes. Amir had never seen such an owl and assumed he was having a very vivid dream. It is a dream Amir told himself trying to shake the feeling of fear that had welled up in his chest upon locking eyes with the monster owl. A figment of his imagination and a frightening view. Amir decided to pinch himself to be rid of this figment of his own imagination.

After Amir pinched himself he realized he was not dreaming. Still spooked he went to the laptop to research this sighting. After a few exaggerated searches, Amir looked upon a picture of a barn owl. The picture on the laptop screen was also scary. Amir did not enjoy the dark eyes of this Owl in real life or on the screen. Amir wondered why a wild barn owl would be so close to the city and at a tree right by his home. It seemed unlikely that a barn owl would live in this area.

Amir had a glass of water and went back to sleep at 2:01 am. Amir woke up at 6:00 am feeling refreshed. Amir was feeling super optimistic about his life in CauZmic City. He poured his cereal with a smile and he was singing and humming. At 7:30 am Amir turned on the TV and sat in his favorite spot.

During a commercial break, Amir found himself staring at himself in his bathroom mirror. While starring Amir had a flashback of the scary sight he had seen in the tree. The sight had shaken him and brought his mind right back to the strangeness that unfolded late the previous night. He glanced out his window to see the owl gone today. He sighed but could not believe that it had been real last night. He thought it was a dream all along but it was not. The more Amir thought about it the more he was not certain of what he had actually seen and what had actually happened the previous night. Was it a hallucination or what could it have been that he saw? Amir started to feel ungrounded and revisited his laptop. Amir's rational mind clung to the evidence of his search history. It was just a barn own Amir told himself.

It was a barn owl, at least Amir was now certain that is what it appeared to be. Later events had Amir really questioning if a night barn owl would ever behave in the ways that this Owl did. Amir immediately named the owl Hugo because of his very distinct sounding hoots. This owl certainly seemed to be constantly introducing himself as Hugo all night long, from right outside of Amir's Window. With all the open space around, Amir wondered why Hugo hung by his house.

Amir went about the rest of the day with the thought of his scary friend Hugo way back in his mind. For all Amir knew he would never ever see that animal again. Of course, Amir was wrong and his complicated relationship with Hugo the owl was just getting started.

Just when Amir thought things were going back to normal...
