What happened at the end of the second season of Outer Banks?

John B. and Sarah made it to the Bahamas. They found a safe with gold in a country house owned by Sarah's father, Ward Cameron (Charles Esten). After failing to open it, John B. returned to find that Terrence (Terence Rosemore) had kidnapped Sarah.

John B. offered to share the loot with Terrence if he let Sarah go. Terrence agreed and they returned to the house to try to open the safe. Their plans were thwarted when Ward received word that an intruder had broken into his house.

Sarah learned that Ward and her brother Rafe (Drew Starkey) were on their way to a Caribbean island to collect the gold, so the trio devised a plan to steal it. In the process, Rafe shot Sarah, forcing John B. to take her to a not-so-respected doctor. Terrence was left with the gold.

The police eventually caught Terrence and confiscated the gold only after John B. and Sarah took the piece for themselves.

Back on the mainland, the Pogs attempted to clear John B.'s name and prove that Rafe was the one who killed the sheriff in the first season. But before they could present evidence to the authorities, Ward killed their only witness and got rid of the culprit. the murder weapon in the storm sewer. In the end, the teenagers took the gun and proved their friend's innocence thanks to Kiara.

After everyone returned to the Outer Banks, Wraith attempted to kill his sister. However, her ex-boyfriend Topper (Austin North) stopped him. To save Wraith and himself, Ward faked his own death by setting fire to his boat.

We learned that Pope was a descendant of Danny Tanney, a former slave who survived the shipwreck of the Royal Merchant. Tanny left a message explaining that there is a key that leads to the Santo Domingo Cross, an expensive ancient artifact believed to have magical healing powers. After surviving another attempted kidnapping by a sick woman named Carla, Pope found the key in his great-grandmother's house.

Several clues led the Pogs to the church, where they found the Santo Domingo Cross. Carla's half brother and Rafe also arrived at the church to steal the cross. But Carla shot her brother after discovering that healing abilities were a myth. Wraith escaped with the artifact.
