The Alaskan frontier, Snow cold & wild with the setting of the Sun bringing darkness at noon. Surrounded by the Pacific & Arctic Ocean, along with the Bering Sea, it stands as a Star State. Chinook Salmon, Steelhead Trout, King Crab, Northern Pike, & Lobsters are fished from fresh water streams & Ocean beds. Wildlife flourishing with the Polar Bear, Grizzly bear, Wolves, Wolverines, Sheep, Bison, Moose, Elk & Foxes roams the vast terrain. Whales, Walruses & Seals live in the Seas while Hundreds of bird species fly. Our National bird, the Eagle soars around the Tallest Mountain, McKinley. Alaska was a pioneers dream, Standing so high in Latitude above the entire world. As genuine as a gold mine, with the sled dog races led by teams of Alaskan huskies lasting for only a day. Why they made an Obstacle out of the event of a 1000 mile race is mind boggling. Itβs initial name was Fur Rondezvous, where dogs were treated decently, being well fed without over excursion. One thousand miles is too far for a car to drive, let alone a sled dog. Each year since the renamed event called Iditarod enslaves hundreds of dogs to endure. Like a memory of an old commercial of the Native American on a conoe paddling through garbage showing tears in his eyes. How can a genuine Gold mine State turn into Fools Gold? Where are the voices of the Park rangers & guardians of what should our 49th National Treasure?
