Alexandra sipped her mocktail. The bartender made it look just like the real thing without any questions, and she appreciated that. Thank God her morning sickness blended in seamlessly with the rest of the hungover cadre.

The bachelorette party lounged around their private cabana, a gift from the soon-to-be Mr., soaking in the rays and the thumping bass. Alexandra had looked it up–the cabana and private bartender cost more than Alexandra made in three months. Mary lay in her white bathing suit, bride sash long discarded with her hat tipped over her eyes. Alexandra had known her since preschool, and looking at her now made her sick. She wished she could tell Mary, shit, she wished she could tell anyone. They used to tell each other everything, and now…

It was so close to the wedding. Telling Mary now would destroy her heart. Alexandra knew how Mary dreamed of her upcoming day.

If this trip was any later, she would have shown. As it was, Alexandra avoided anything tight-fitting. Luckily, her bridesmaid dress was not too tight for that. She would make it work.

Mary’s rolled over, a smile passing her lips as their eyes met. Hers had always been a terrible match; Alexandra knew it, and now the regret of keeping that to herself…

But she had to. Soon, Alexandra would bring out the truth when the time was right.

Alexandra was a good friend; the least she could do was wait until Mary got half that disgusting monster’s stuff.

Mary seems to have all the logistics of lies neatly worked out...hope she doesn't get any twists and turns and lose a lifelong friend.

No idea what a writing battle is, but this was very engaging.

Ahh! The drama. I see much in their future. Not exactly sure what I would do. Running from the truth is not an option. Especially when Alexandra doesn’t have the money to relocate.
