Waste Summoner: The Rebellious Little Evil Consort, Chapter 3

Escaped from death

By XiaoZhiYuanChuangPublished 3 years ago 3 min read

The breathing of the beast grew louder, and Yun Bei had no choice but to leap and grab the chain. Gritting her teeth, she climbed up. Not long after, she felt a tremor beneath her, and the chain shook violently. Yun Bei quickly tightened her grip, looking down to see a massive, pitch-black creature turning its head below, as if sniffing something. Its body was still hidden within the mouth of the cave, with only its head visible in the moonlight. With bloodshot eyes, Yun Bei couldn't make out its features clearly. After a few sniffs, the beast let out an angry roar and bit into the still-twitching wild buffalo.

Yun Bei was in a cylindrical well, and the acoustics were such that the roar left her ears ringing and her limbs numb, nearly causing her to fall from the chain. When everything settled down, she realized the beast had vanished, leaving behind only the stench of blood and a pile of buffalo remains. She hurriedly grabbed the chain, mustering all her strength to climb upwards.

She didn't know how long she had climbed, but finally, Yun Bei's hands reached the edge of the well. She pulled herself up, her body already battered and bleeding profusely. After expending all her energy throughout the night, she collapsed on the ground, too weak to move.

"Hey, you're not dead yet?" That ghostly voice came again.

Struggling to sit up, Yun Bei leaned against the half-meter-high well wall, her dark eyes sharp as blades as she watched two men approach. They had stayed to wait for morning to haul up her supposed corpse and complete their task.

"It's unbelievable... How did she climb up?" One of the men exclaimed in shock. Curious, he stood by the well and peered down, "Was she not put down there after all?"

Yun Bei's gaze turned fierce, and she suddenly struck, grabbing the man's ankle and flipping him down the well with a swift motion.

"Ahh..." His long scream was abruptly cut off by a thud.

The second man instinctively reached out to grab his companion but missed, and his body momentarily hung in the air. Yun Bei leaped up, kicking him in the back and sending him tumbling down after the first.

In her past life, Yun Bei was no saint. Though she didn't recklessly take lives, she was vengeful by nature, always returning an eye for an eye. These men, having seen her alive, had callously thrown her down as a sacrifice. If she didn't avenge this, she wouldn't be Yun Bei.

Under the moonlight, Yun Bei felt a mysterious power coursing through her. She jumped onto a rock, gazing towards the castle surrounded by greenery in the distance. Yun's Castle was at the center of the plain, its lights shining brilliantly. The humble homes of the common people, like sparks of fire, clustered around the magnificent Yun's Castle, as dazzling as stars surrounding the moon.

"Yun Bei, your kindness was mistaken for foolishness, your innocence seen as stupidity, which is why you were killed... Now that I am you, let me reclaim the dignity you once lost..."

As dawn approached, the chirping of birds could be heard from the surrounding greenery. The guards, who had been on duty all night, leaned sleepily against the castle walls, chatting to pass the time.

"Someone's coming," one guard noticed a figure staggering out of the greenery in the thin morning light.

"Isn't that from the direction of the sacrificial altar? How come someone is coming out? Could something have happened?"
