Milan took over her aunt’s chambers. Blankets and furniture were rearranged to her liking. By now the moon has risen. She stood at her balcony, gazing at the stars in the sky. She smiled sadly, “How long could I have had this view for?” There was no response. Not even from her mind. She sighed, turning around, her back leaning against the railings. There was a withering plant hanging from the rooftop. She gently raised her hand, her finger brushing against its tip. It suddenly sprang to life. It hangs low like a long vine. Running down the stoned walls till met the floor. One moment she was gazing at the grass. Next, a horse comes into view. She blinked. As the horse and the man riding on it came into view.

Oliver looks up. Panting with a smile on his face.

“My lady.” He said. Milan blinked again. She couldn’t figure out as to why he would be here so late. She watched him get off his horse.

“I couldn’t bear to be apart.” He said.

Milan leaned over the railings.

“We would have reunited in three days.”

“That’s too long.”

She caught his soft gaze. As if she understood him.

“I know.”

Like once before he’s waiting down below. She used the vine running down the building and threw it down the balcony. As soon as his boots dropped in front of hers, he held out his hand. Milan raised her hand, pausing it mid-movement. She bit her lower lip. She looked up, his head slightly tilted and a smile on his lips. With that she dropped her hand in his. “Would you like to visit a sight with me?” Milan smiled. “With pleasure.”

In an instant he took off his cloak and draped it over her and hooked an arm under her knees. Jumping from the balcony and using one hand to slide down the vine. Oliver whistled quietly, his horse perking its ears at his call. Milan let out a small squeal as he leaped them onto the beast. Nudging it as they take off. In half an hour they make it to a mountain. The same one she saw from her castle but was never able to venture out to see it in person.

“It’s beautiful.” She smiled.

Oliver's gaze flickered from the mountains to her. “Mhm.” He hummed with a smile on his face. Milan narrowed her eyes at some space below.

“What’s down there?” She asked.

“A village. They neither belong to my territory or yours.”

She slowly nodded.

“What if we make them a center point? Build a bridge in between our territories and have them as a city?”

Oliver blinked. He slowly turned towards her and laughed. Milan paused. Bashfully looking away.

“Was it a horrible thought?”

“No, no of course not. It’s brilliant. It’s just I didn’t know you’d want to be like that with me.”

She furrowed her brows, and caught his big grin. He holds his hand out once again. “I’d love to connect our territories. If you’ll have me.”

Milan took his hand gently. “I’d be glad too.”

Days had gone by as Milan began to lead her household. It was about time she hired new people. A butler named James had a few recommendations. Milan looked over their profiles.

“Bring them in today. I’ll be conducting interviews.”

A young maid chimed in. She shyly raised her hand.

“C-can my sisters and brothers come too?”

Milan smiled, “of course. Bring them all to the gardens by mid-afternoon.”

The girl cheerfully smiled, “Okay!”

Milan turned on her heels, one of the previous Celeste knights guiding her to the cells. It was cold and the floor was slightly damp. No natural light, just torches hanging on the stony walls.

“Aunt.” Milan said. Looking down at the woman sitting on the floor. Chains around her legs.

Her aunt couldn’t bare to look at her. However, her cousin in the cell next over spewed out, “Freak.” Lady Lucina glared at Milan. Chains rattling as she went up to the bars.

“You ruined everything! I was meant to live this life!”

Milan took a few steps towards Lucina’s cell. She stared right at her.

“Is that so?”

“Indeed it is!”

Milan glanced at her aunt.

“I spent quite some time in the royal archives in the last few days. As well as getting to know my castle. You know, dear cousin . I found something fascinating.”

Lady Luzcrezia glanced at Milan.

“Say, do you know who your birth father is?”

“Count Redrick! From the royal capital.”

Milan giggled. Covering her mouth almost instantly as she glanced at her aunt. All wide eyed and chewing on her lower lip.

“Hm. You say that however you’ve never met him.”

“Father passed away when I was in my mothers womb! It was a tragedy, don’t you dare speak of him.”

Lucina gnawed her teeth together as she looked at her mother.

“Tell her! I am of pure noble blood, it’s why I am meant to lead this household mother!”

However Luzcrezia looked at the ground.

“Mother?”

“Wouldn’t you like to know your true father?”

“Pardon?”

“Your father has always been with you. He’s always been by your side, supporting you. You just didn’t know it.”

Lucina again called for her mother. As Milan nodded to another guard. They head out to grab another convict. Lucina covered her math, taking a step back as Jon, a knight that was assigned to her from the very first day she was born, appeared on his knees. His eyes were as blue as hers. She just never thought much of it. It was a fairly common eye color amongst nobles after all.

“J-Jon?”

“I..” He whispered.

He lifts his head to look at Luzcrezia. She glared down at him. Even while seated she looked down upon him.

“Useless.” She said while looking elsewhere. As if she was too bothered to spend another glance at him. Meanwhile Lucina had an empty stare. The knight that had spent his entire time dedicating himself to her was all along her father. Milan nodded at a guard to put him back where he was. One was in a state of rage, the other had their entire world shook.

Once Milan had entered her chambers, she collapses on her bed. She makes a tight fist before loosening it. Draping her arm over her forehead.

“Perhaps soon this’ll all be over.”
