Unhinged Doomsday:

Elizabeth drew herself a bath, this was the first official overnight in her new place. Subconsciously leaving the door slightly cracked. The steam smudged up the mirror, and in the reflection unfamiliar fingertips, spelled out her name heart bubble formed above the “I” dripping with precipitation.

Submerging her aching muscles, in Doctor Teals Foam bath, from repetitively carrying boxes up and down the a multilevel condo.

Before her hands the chance to prune, she drained the tub, as it belched water slow like down the drain. Her thought, something is clogging up this damn drain. “I will just need to snake it, probably just leftover hair from previous owners YUCK!” In her towel, she leaned over the edge.

In surprise, amongst the clump of hair and soap was sterling sliver locket and plated chain.

Elizabeth went to the sink, to clean off the residue freeing the tangled chain from hair.

“Gotta love when jewelry oxides!”

She examined, the tarnished heart shaped locket gleaming.

Inside was strand of brown hair, a picture with masculine piercing blue eyes remained in the frame.

There was something alluring about the mystery of this locket. Elizabeth felt compelled to put the petite heart-shaped locket on.

From the moment she caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror, a sinister energy washed over her.

Her neighbors noticed Elizabeth’s behavior change while she began to distant herself, friendly demeanor shift to irritable. Elizabeth dodged her normal social interaction with the single mother Vivian and her son Michael .

The locket and her became inseparable, she wore it even to bed. A habit she’d stopped doing at very young age.

As Elizabeth tossed an turned with vivid dreams, that disrupted her sleep, waking her in cold sweat, panting she grasp the sides, the hitch pen popped, open, and the monogram was flipped to the the back. Sharp pricks of the friction pen, left tiny scratches on her skin. But still she refused to take it off.

As dusk sets, water rushed into the underground parking garage from the rooftop pool, and debris began to fall against the concete slab.

A loud crash echoed on the pavement. Several sliders, swung open and many of the residents stared stunned as the building collapsing in on them before their eyes like Jenga blocks. Grasping tightly to the aluminum railing, as if holding onto a safety bar on a Ferris wheel.

Elizabeth was getting ready for work, noticing her water pressure from the shower-head was low. She heard, her second alarm blaring obnoxiously.

“ Crap!” she mumbles hopping in and quickly warshes up. Underneath she felt, a rumble minor earthquake, she was convinced.

Meanwhile next door, Vivian was stirring awake. As she rolled over to snooze her alarm. Her fingers were smashed between, a ceiling fan and drywall debris.

Her adrenaline kicked in, Vivian tried desperately to make it out of her room, as she crumbled in a heap at the doorway, with her last breath, whispered for Michael. Reaching out towards his bedroom door.

Micheal slept through the great collapse. The bed slats broke beneath him, as he tussled inside the his Minecraft sheets. The memory foam mattress became a barrier between himself and the debris. A first responder rescuer pulled the frail body from the rubble. Quickly the EMT admistered Iv fluids. The boys body greatful for the fluids .

Micheal’s aunt came out to hospital, in her hand a teddy bear with a gold heart locket with her twins picture.

His smile was the biggest, but quickly turned sour when realized this wasn’t his mom.

All the while, Elizabeth was showering away, faster she went to shut off the water, and the vibrations caused her to slip in the cast iron tub basin. Unexpectedly the locket, she wore got caught in the drain, unable to lift her face from the water. Instantaneously, she drowned in the shallow depths.

When the rescue team unearthed the body from the rubble. The locket, was no where to be found. She had a prominent green ring around her neck, where the locket rested.
