Under Purple Clouds

Such A Magical Place!

Every night at midnight, the purple clouds came out to dance with the blushing sky. All the fireflies have disappeared, because once every decade the fire breathing dragons celebrate their new era as a new baby dragon enters the world and begins its life. The dragon family who welcomes this new sacred life into their family gets to rule the dragon world until the next baby dragon is born. Because there are so many dragons at the age to give birth there had been an order that was established centuries ago to determine who would be in line next to gain the seat of royalty.

These dragon families while in power are held to the highest utmost respect. They are the only dragons in all of the land who are able to use their powers to protect both the dragon and the human world from invaders. Using their powers takes a lot out of them, and that is why the order of royalty rule came to be. While the royal family becomes protectors of all, the other dragons are able to regenerate their powers while they continue to grow older. Dragons live a long time, over a thousand years. Over these years their powers grow stronger while not in use. This assures everyone that when it is the turn of a particular dragon family to take reign, they will be at their most powerful time of their lives.

In honor of the dragons, once it is their time to pass on, the humans hold a ceremony to send the dragons back into the fiery lake, and capture the magic of their bones once they pass through this life. The magic from their bones is then turned into medicines that help the humans to heal from disease. This symbiotic life cycle works for both the humans and the dragons to live in peace with each other. The humans provide the food that the dragons need to sustain their lives over the years. Without the humans to help maintain the livestock, and agriculture of the lands the dragons could not continue to exist as long as they have.

Every day at sunrise the purple clouds would dissipate, and the pink hues from the sun would emerge. There would be sprinkles of green rain each morning to cover the blue lands that were filled with the fruit and vegetables that the humans and dragons would consume. The atmosphere and climate gave strength to the lives of both humans and dragons for time immemorial. The air was the purest air found on any of the planets. The waters that flowed through the land gave the most nutrients found on any planet. It is believed that from this earth is what gave the dragons their powers.

Then one day there were new explorers on these lands. They came from a nearby planet. They tried to claim the land as their own. However, they were unaware of the guardians that had already inhibited these lands. This new species was larger than humans, but smaller than dragons. It walked on two legs, was green, had bad breath, and did not sound very intelligent when it spoke. They brought their own weapons. These weapons were able to create much damage. They were a breed that came to ravage the lands and consume all that was upon the earth.

This had been the first contact the humans and dragons had ever had with this new species. The new species had encountered others within different realms before coming to earth. They had taken weapons from other planets that had great significance which told the humans and the dragons, they might not be that intelligent but they were still dangerous. Through their first encounter with this new species they quickly learned that they could not be trusted. Although they had signed a peace treaty with these new people the humans considered them to be ogres and took rotation standing guard while the royal dragon family slept.

It was near dusk when the ogres decided to attack just a few days after signing the peace treaty. Their lightsabers and fireball guns were able to take out humans with one swift move. The dragons also had a challenge in defeating these newcomers against their new weapons; it seemed like we would all be destroyed. Just as it looked like all hope would be lost, a new baby dragon was born. To everyone's surprise there was not just one baby dragon that hatched from this one egg, but two. This only happened once every two hundred and twenty-two thousand years. When this rare occurrence would take place it meant that all of the dragon families could awaken from their regenerative sleep, and use their powers to help protect the world.

Crops were destroyed, woodlands wiped out, but in the end the dragons and humans slayed the ogres, and once again restored the lands of their world. It would take some magical powers from the dragons, and a lot of hard work on the humans' part. For them to regain control of the disturbed environment and continue for the two to thrive once again upon the earth.
