For me, werewolf novels are the most appealing of all novel genres, strangely those werewolf novels took me into a worldview and character setting that didn't exist at all, they are rangely attract to me believe and love the fictional world and the whmsical persona.

Werewolf legends exist all over the world, so it’s no surprise that werewolf novels take on many different forms, from paranormal romances with preordained mates to gory and action-packed thrillers featuring the conflict between werewolves and vampires.

KIARA'S POV

I am rudely awoken by the blasting sound of my alarm clock. The time is six am and I have to wake up and get ready for training with my mentor. That has been my usual daily routine for as long as I can remember.

They say being powerful has its perks but so far, I haven't seen any perks, just cons. I see my powers as a curse to me. I am the most powerful werewolf in my family and since the day I was born, I have been greatly feared by my father especially since my mother died during childbirth. For this reason, he decided to keep me away from the world by locking me up in this mansion and when I turned four years old, he assigned a mentor for me who trained me and helped me refine my skills and of course, know how to control my strength.

"Just one more night" I whisper to myself as I step into my bathtub. When I turned sixteen, I had begged my father to release me but he had declined, he told me he would only do that when I turned eighteen and the very next day is my eighteenth birthday. I can't wait for tomorrow to come. I didn't only look forward to meeting new people and experiencing life like other werewolves but I also look forward to finding my mate. My mentor already told me all I need to know about finding mates and the strong connection that is instantly felt the moment they see each other. I can't wait for that moment to come.

Tomorrow is going to be my big day of dreams come true. Or so I thought.

"Arthur!" I call in excitement as I walk over to the middle-aged man who has been my mentor since I was four. He is not only my mentor, but he is like a father to me because from the moment he met me, he didn't treat me like a wild werewolf child who needed to be tamed but he treated me like a daughter. He reminded me every day that my strength doesn't make me a monster, that it's okay that I'm different and for that reason, I love and respect him very much.

"How are my cupcakes doing today?"

"Perfect! I'm so excited for tomorrow" I say with a wide smile.

"That's why we are here. There will be no training today, we need to get you prepared for tomorrow. It's your big day, remember?"

"I'm excited and at the same time nervous"

"Why are you nervous?" He asks concerned and I heave out a heavy sigh of frustration.

"What if other people get scared of me because of my super strength? What if they don't like me?" I ask worriedly.

"Oh Kiara, come here" He motions me to take a seat on one of the couches in the sitting area of the dressing room. "Child, I understand what you are trying to point out and it's totally normal for you to feel nervous. You see, the truth is, not everyone out there will love you and that's how the world works. You have those who will always hate you for absolutely nothing and those who will be with you no matter the situation, but none of that should bother you. You are a good girl Kiara, you are brave, confident, strong, and beautiful both on the inside and outside and I know that you will prevail out there in every circumstance. So don't be nervous my dear, on the contrary, it is the world that has to be nervous about your coming because you are no ordinary girl. You are a wonder!" He encourages and that makes me smile confidently. Arthur always finds a way to suppress my nervousness every single time.

The door creaks open and Laura, my elder sister walks in with a wide smile plastered on her face. I rush over to her she engulfs me in a sisterly hug. Laura is not just my sister, she is my best friend. I discuss all my challenges with her and she in turn discussed her own issues with me too, including the fact she is in a relationship with the famous Alpha Noah.

I look forward to meeting the man whom my sister talks about all the time.

"Someone seems excited for tomorrow's event" Laura coos.

"What now?" I ask giggling. She only gets so excited when something big has happened and right now I wonder what it is that has happened.

"Check this out," Laura says as she lifts up a chunk of her jet black hair which exposes one side of her neck and I notice something on it.

"Is that a bite?" I ask aghast.

"Yes it is, but it's no ordinary bite. Alpha Noah marked me!" She says as she squeals in excitement.

"You let him mark you?"

"Yes!"

"Whoa! This is intense"

"I didn't think a male werewolf is allowed to mark a female who isn't his mate," I say and Laura frowns.

"If that's the case then what's the need for us to have mates? We are all supposed to have our various mates right?"

"Well... Come on Kiara, you should be happy for me."

"Laura I'm happy for you, but..."

"But what?" She asks anxiously with a frown.

"Just that both of you have displaced two other people"

"I already rejected my mate, I told you that before," She says in a bored tone.

"Yes you did, but what about Alpha Noah? did he reject his mate too?"

"Alpha Noah hasn't found his mate yet, besides he's going to reject her even if he did. I'm the one he wants to be with"

"I'm sorry sis, forgive my manners. I'm actually happy for you, come here" I say as I hug her but my mind is not at rest. I understand that being in a relationship with the Alpha is a big deal, but is it really worth rejecting one's own rightful mate? Soulmate?
