Three Wishes

Rule One.

You cannot wish for more wishes.

There's a limited amount for a reason.

Don't get greedy.

At least, not greedy in that way.

Rule Two.

You get three wishes.

Kind of obvious, with Rule One being in place.

But knowing the exact number of wishes you get, well.

It's supposed to make you take time to think about what you wish for.

Rule Three.

You cannot wish for love.

The matters of the heart are not something to be messed with.

Love is up to the Fates and the Fates alone.

No one with half a brain would try and mess with that.

Rule Four.

You cannot wish for immortality.

Now that one, that's because of one specific man who tried.

Nothing lasts forever, not in this universe or any others.

Again. You do not mess with the Fates.

Rule Five.

You cannot give away your wishes.

This one's never quite made sense to me.

But if you are being offered three wishes, they're yours.

You must use them on yourself, and only yourself.

Rule Six.

Think carefully about each wish.

That one's less of a rule, and more of a warning.

Try not to use all three wishes in the span of ten minutes.

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Rule Seven.

Should you use a wish that breaks a Rule, that wish is lost.

You are now down to however many wishes you have left.

The rules are listed out for you.

Don't. Break. Them.

Rule Eight.

Do not purposely break the Rules.

Do not read these Rules, and immediately set out to break them.

You will regret it. If you do?

Your life will be up to the Fates alone. Start to pray.

Rule Nine.

Do not try to free your wish giver.

Life isn't like a movie.

If you are given three wishes, do not use one to try and "free" your wish giver.

Do not listen to the lies they tell you. Run

Rule 10.

Reread the Rules.

However many times it takes for you to understand.

Reread the rules, so that you do not break them.

So that you are safe, and stay alive until the end.

The message was sent to every computer, phone, and television.

The world was confused when it appeared.

Wish givers were just starting to become known.

Anyone who was given the wishes were only told two things.

You cannot wish for more wishes.

Rule One.

You get three wishes.

Rule Two.

No one could figure out where the message came from.

They doubted the Rules, when they first came out.

How would anyone know all this, anyways?

They sounded like they had experience.

And that wasn't possible!

The first person to get three wishes had only gotten them two weeks ago.

The Rules had been posted the next day.

Some, the smarter folk, listened.

Most refused to.

Three wishes, who wouldn't be overjoyed?

Who wouldn't want to use them in whatever way they could think of?

They had never heard of someone wishing for immortality.

They had never seen someone try to "free" their wish giver.

Those people were never found, that's why.

Some wished for money, or houses.

Listen to the Rules.

One kid wished for animals, and a sibling.

Don't break them.

Someone tried to wish for love.

They were brought before the Fates.

And the Fates are not kind.

One day, people will realize that they should listen to the Rules.

For now, they will chose to be fools instead.

When they do realize, it will be far too late.

You will regret it.
