Meeting Joe was one of the best thing that happened to me. Joe was quite, reserved and out spoken at the same time, this was a personality contrast that I found attractive.
Joe was funny and always laughed at my jokes, he had the weirdest sense of humor and his reaction to certain actions leaves you wondering for days what gave him inspiration.
Joe and I met at my cousins wedding in Abuja, apparently I and Joe shared the same table at the wedding reception.
Before you ask, I wasn't on any of my cousins train and while other family members were running around serving guest and just making sure my cousin gets her dream wedding, I busied myself with capturing beautiful moments on my smart phone.
The wedding was very colorful as different asoebi rocked different styles. The colors of the days was white, royal blue and nude pink. My family asoebi was white and royal blue, the men wore white while the ladies wore royal blue with white gele.
I don't mean to brag, but my gown was beautiful, my tailor did justice to my dress, instead of the conventional blue lace the rest of the family used, I used a sparkling blue lace that we call sequence lace.
My dress was fitted and you could literally trace my curves, my tailor was a little dramatic with the slit starting just above my thighs, raveling just the right amount of legs. I was HOT.
Now, you can't attend a Nigerian wedding without the perfect makeup to match your already smashing outfit. I really felt pretty with my makeup and my beautiful gele to crown my outfit. I looked like a princess and felt like one too.
Sincerely I was the first to notice Joe in his perfect tailored white senator and well fitted shinny swede black shoe. The guy is fine, ah! ah! ah! light skinned, pink lips and a beautiful smile to match a beautiful face, his smile was blinding and he had the best dentation I have ever seen, dimples, he had dimples, I could already picture our first son with dimples just like his father and beautiful skin like mummy, it would be perfect.
I was snapped back to reality by a tap on my shoulder, ''hi, my name is Joe, and you are?'' I did a back flip, my happy dance and I sent a very big thank you to the big guy up there. My God, he is talking to me, am I dreaming ? I have to be dreaming.
''Hello, pretty'', he tapped my shoulder for the second time to get my attention, I literally felt a ton of electricity go through my body. I quickly gained composure, "hi'' I finally responded trying not to look excited and failing. ''My name is Joe'' he extended his hand this time, I shook his hand firmly, ''Tiwa, my name is Tiwa'' I replied smiling so hard my cheeks hurt.
Just like a match made in heaven, Joe and I spent the rest of the day together. We had so much fun, we made jokes, took lovely pictures and danced together. We shut the joint down, it was a wonderful wedding and Joe was amazing.
After the wedding, we kept in touch, we talked for unending hours over the phone, we went on dates, Joe and I were on the same level of sarcasm, and well, yes, a very great sense of humor. Life was good.
I met his family, his mum especially is my favourite, she is so cool and lovable, the whole family was a vibe. I loved them and they loved me back. I was in love with a man that loves me and his family loves me too.
Joe was the full package and every woman's dream, he loves God and I love me a Christian man. He was an active worker in his church and spent most of his free time doing the work of God.
A few months later, Joe proposed in the most romantic way, I was going to get married to the love of my life and I was clearly the happiest woman alive.
Then the day I will never forget, it all stopped, no calls, no text, nothing. Everything stopped like someone messed with time and it froze. I went to his house severally, but the people I met there said there was Joe living there.
Joe was gone, gone with the wind, it was like he never existed, like we never met, like there was never a wedding, like he never tapped on my shoulders and smiled at me, like I never met his family, it was like he never proposed.
Now here I am, in my closet, sitting with my kneels held tight to my chest, sipping straight from the bottle, my fifth bottle of wine, wondering if the last eight months of my life was real or just a MISCONCEPTION.
