Thieves' Greed
Grave Robbers Break into the Wrong Tomb
"You sure about this?" asked Tommy.
"I mean, the fact we're here risking our lives for this? Not a great sign of good judgement," replied Sam. Tommy sighed.
"Well, let's hurry and get this over with. It's cooler in here, but it's really hard to breathe."
"Yeah, probably could've stood to let it air a bit first, though it might not have helped anyway, it's so stale..."
As Sam finished speaking, he reached a larger chamber within the tomb. One they could stand up in. Their headlamps shone on a beautiful iridescent film lining the tomb, bouncing back the light in a brilliant display.
"Oh, wow," gasped Tommy as he looked around.
A sarcophagus lay in a carved nook in the floor. And it looked to be in great condition. As they approached, however, something else struck them as odd about this tomb; the animal decorating the sarcophagus was not one either man recognized.
"I dunno what that is, but it's creepy as hell," Sam said.
"Yeah," Tommy agreed, "let's see if it's here."
The two men lifted the top off; revealed the body inside. And a unique, iridescent gem.
As soon as it was removed, the tomb closed shut.
About the Creator
Megan Baker (Left Vocal in 2023)
A fun spin on her last name, Baker enjoyed creating "Baker's Dozen" lists for various topics! She also wrote candidly about her mental health & a LOT of fiction. Discontinued writing on Vocal in 2023 as Vocal is a fruitless venture.
