Looking down at the blood running off of his arm, it was in this moment that Michael realized they might be the only ones left. Breathing in deep through his nose, all he could smell was the sweet scent of blood in the air. With a loud boom of his voice he released all of his emotion into the air, it sounded like a mighty battle cry. The sound echoed through the almost soulless universe. The other men matched his mighty roar, bellowing their own screams through the fog of the early hours. Tonight we shall feast upon the hearts of our most prize possessions, Michael yelled to the rest of the army. It was then that he grabbed the heart from the girl he saved for last, and let his teeth tare through the still warm organ. He had the heart shaped locket that had been around her neck clenched in his fist as he consumed her.

Standing there Michael thought just days before these lands were filled with people living their busy everyday lives. They all hustled and bustled through the cities, paying no mind to what the future had in store for them. How were they supposed to know that we were all uniting, and that the dark web was forming an army he thought? The planning had been years in the making, but the wait was worth it. This had become more than just a few serial killers that wanted to feel the rush of killing. This was an army of justice Michael thought. The events of the last few days were just playing in his head as he basked in their glory. He thought about the moment it all began.

Sitting at his computer on a hot summer night, Michael was looking through the dark web. Looking for people who might have some clue as to what it felt like to be him. Throughout the many years of his life he had never fit in with anyone before. Although he did not mind being alone, he did mind not being able to push his plan forward without people. He needed people just like him, people that would be willing to create the passionate cleansing of the universe. These ordinary, ignorant, sheepish people that followed the rules and never did anything out of the box just had to go. He created a room that was called and then there was none. He reached out to people that he had been watching for a long time. The ones he knew where like himself, the ones who were out there feeling the rush of the kill. Each day he gained more and more followers. The numbers grew to heights he could have never imagined.

Days turned into weeks, weeks turned into months, months turned into years, but nothing ever slowed down his dream. It had finally become the day that they had been planning a meeting. He had bought a huge portion of land that had large pole barns on it just for them to all gather. The vehicles flowed in like a river with a broken damn. He felt like a school girl, because he could barely contain his excitement. Standing on his stage that he had set up, he felt like a God.

Clearing his throat into the microphone Michael said my brothers and sisters “I am the one true leader, and we are an army of God’s”. The crowd began to roar with excited cheers, and screams of encouragement. We will go together through these lands like a sea of destruction, and take the power back from these people. It has been too long that we have been shunned, we have been locked up, and left out, and this will end today. We will take the power that we have deserved for all of time, and each person will suffer for the denial that we have encountered. There are no more rules, there are no more laws, and there is no more right and wrong. That rush of power that you get from taking the soul from another person will no longer be denied to you. You will have the ultimate rush that will not end until there is nothing left, but us. We will create a new world, and we will make the laws he shouted into the microphone.

To think the world probably never knew just how many serial killers lurked in the cracks and crevices of this universe. Looking out into the sea of people Michael thought, there has to be hundreds of thousands of us all here together. There is so many serial killers that this ignorant world has looked past he thought. We have blended in to all these sheep for so long and now we will go in for the slaughter. This world will be stained with the blood of its entire people, and then we will rebuild our new nation upon their blood soaked soil.

The army all swarmed through the cities one by one devouring the people. Looking in every corner, of every inch, of each city, and showing not one single person mercy. Michael felt the rush of power through his system as he watched the life draining from each person he encountered. People were running and screaming down the roads, but there was nowhere for them to go. They were outnumbered, and taken by complete surprise. The days and nights blended together, because the army did not need any sleep. The rush of the killings was like drugs to an addict. It kept them going in full force, and there was nothing that could stop them as they ravished in their drug.

The army of killers began to become almost non human, as the days of murders carried on. They seemed to be morphing into an almost creature like state, and Michael could only imagine this was just their physical bodies evolving into the beasts they were meant to be. Some even began to run on all fours through the streets, just sniffing the air for the flesh that they craved. It was towards the end of the journey across the world that Michael had spotted the girl with the heart shaped locket around her neck. She stood at the end of an alley just watching them, as they rushed through the street. As they grew closer he watched her, and how she had not moved one step since they came. Michael thought to himself, why is she not running like the rest of them?

It did not take long before Michael had made his way towards the front of his army. He wanted to reach the girl at the end of the alley first; her soul was calling to him. Pointing at her he said this one will be mine, and with those words he began to run towards her. He watched her stand as still and strong as a tree as he was charging in her direction. Once he got near her he smiled, and said “are you not scared”? Staring forward, not blinking, not moving, and what looked like not breathing she refused to reply. He came in closer to her, and saw a gold heart shaped locket around her neck that glistened in the sun. Reaching down he ran his finger across the heart shaped locket, and asked what do we have here? The girl reached down and smacked his hand away with a sharp thrust. “Ahh there you are” Michael said as he felt a ting of excitement that she had reacted. He released the straps from his back pack, and pulled out some rope. He began to tie her arms and feet behind her, and then looping them together. She did not make one sound, and he did not see one single tear from her. Leaning in he whispered in her ear, I don’t know why you are not scared but I do know that you are mine now. He signaled for one of his men to drive one of the trucks over to him. Once it arrived he lifted the girl up into the back of the truck, and pushed her towards the back of the bed. There were several people in the back of the truck, and Michael said this one is mine.

Looking into his fist that he had clenched around the locket, he realized he was finally able to open it. Inside there was a picture of a man on one side, and of a baby on the other. He thought this was her trophy of her life and what was important to her, and now it is my trophy. Michael shoved the heart shaped locket into his front pocket of his pants, and this will be the reminder of the day there was none he thought. She was the one he saved for last, because there was something about her soul that he had to have. She was now a part of him, and no one could ever take her from him. The strength, the power, and the fire that she possessed as she stood in that alley were now his.

The army of men all consumed what they needed in order to fulfill their final needs. It was the end of the world as we have known it Michael said, and now we will create the world that was always meant to be. We will take this time to let our physical vessels rest, and we will celebrate in our victory. Then tomorrow we will start the new world empire, and we will fulfill our destinies as the God’s of this nation. One last roar of victory rang throughout the empty world, as they began to lay down to rest. Tomorrow shall be a new beginning, and today was the final day, the day there was none!
