A yellowed melody was heard from somewhere else, heavy with piano and harp noises and probably projected through concert-grade speakers.

No one knew where it came from, but at midnight, the song played throughout the town.

It had started a few years ago and was now a ritual of the townspeople. They stayed up until the clock struck twelve, waiting to experience the song.

Some were content with the music, integrating it into their routine, while others white-knuckled it as they sat and waited until it was over.

But according to the law, if someone went to bed before midnight, they were found and penalized. So, no one could skip out.

Its potent melody surfaced different sensations, emotions, and memories in each person every night.

Because despite it being the same notes carried in the same fashion, it never sounded the same.

Whoaaa, penalized for going to bed before midnight? That's kinda extreme, lol. Loved your story!
