THE WHITTLER
Magical Visionary
Jarl the whittler lived in Norway on Troll Mountain. He spent his days carving fanciful faces and figures into saplings he fashioned into hiking sticks.
The trail was close, so Jarl hung a shingle, advertising his work to hikers passing by. As word spread, many sought to own one of Jarl’s magic staffs.
One day, after hearing about these wonders, two young hikers knocked on the door of his rough-hewn cabin. Jarl appeared, welcoming them inside.
He presented each with their own staff, surprisingly, with exact renditions of their faces and names carved into them.
