The Warning of the Ghost Dad
The evil mother

Ethan had always felt his father’s presence. Even after five years since his death, strange things happened in their house—lights flickered, doors creaked open on their own, and cold gusts of wind swept through his room at night. But the strangest part was the whisper.
*"Be careful of your mother."*
The first time he heard it, Ethan was only ten. It came from the darkness of his bedroom just as he was about to fall asleep. He had jolted upright, heart pounding, but there was no one there. He ran to his mother, but she dismissed it as a bad dream, stroking his hair and tucking him back into bed.
But the whispers continued. And then, when he was twelve, they became more than whispers.
One rainy evening, while he was brushing his teeth, he saw movement in the mirror. A pale figure stood behind him. Ethan spun around, but there was nothing. He turned back to the mirror, and his breath hitched.
It was his father.
His eyes were hollowed with sorrow, his face thin and ghastly, but unmistakable.
*"Ethan,"* his father’s voice echoed, *"listen to me. Your mother... she—she isn’t who she seems. She hurt me. She will hurt you too."*
Ethan stumbled backward, his back hitting the cold sink. “Dad?” His voice was barely a whisper. “But... you died in an accident.”
His father’s form flickered, his eyes full of pain. *"No, son. She killed me."*
Ethan’s blood ran cold.
He wanted to scream, to run to his mother and ask if it was true. But deep down, something inside him already knew. He had seen the way his mother had moved on so quickly. How her new husband, Mark, had stepped into their lives so easily. How she never spoke of his father, never cried.
Over the next few weeks, his father appeared more frequently, each time urging him to be careful. The message never changed: **Do not trust her. Do not trust him.**
One night, Ethan overheard something that made his stomach drop.
Mark and his mother were arguing in hushed voices. “You need to make sure he doesn’t find out,” Mark was saying. “If he ever—”
“I know,” his mother snapped. “I handled it once. I’ll handle it again.”
Ethan’s heart slammed against his ribs. He staggered backward, but the floor creaked. Silence. Then footsteps.
He turned and ran.
He didn’t stop running until he was out of the house, into the cold night. His father’s ghostly voice rang in his ears, guiding him. He found himself in front of the police station, gasping for breath.
The next morning, everything changed. The police dug into his father’s case. A toxicology report had been overlooked—a fatal dose of poison in his bloodstream. His mother had hidden the evidence well, but not well enough. She and Mark were arrested.
Ethan never saw his father’s ghost again after that.
But he would always remember his final words before disappearing forever:
"You were my justice, son. Be safe now."
And for the first time in years, Ethan finally felt free.
