Waiting

As the sun set, the old man sat alone on the park bench, staring off into the distance. A young girl approached him and asked, "Are you okay?" He smiled and replied, "I'm just waiting for someone." As they sat in silence, the girl noticed a tear roll down the man's cheek. Moments later, a young man arrived, and the old man's face lit up. "There you are," he said, hugging the newcomer tightly. "I've been waiting for you." The girl realized that the man had been waiting for his son to come home from the war.
