The Velvet Circle
n the bustling, shadow-laced city of Noctara, five women live seemingly normal lives: Carla – the calm and calculating doctor who can heal wounds with more than just medicine. Perla – the eccentric and rebellious tattoo artist, whose ink can bind spirits. Jessi – the strict but secretly fragile teacher, a master of protective charms and illusion. Mily – the dreamy musician, who manipulates emotions and reality through sound. Si – the confident and artistic fashion designer, whose threads can enchant or destroy. Bound by friendship, they share nights of wine and rituals, using their gifts in secret — until a brutal supernatural force begins claiming witches across Noctara. As they investigate, dark memories and forbidden spells resurface. The city's magical balance is cracking… and one of them might be the cause. Unbeknownst to the others, Carla and Si are entangled in a secret romance — dangerous not only for its secrecy, but for what Carla is hiding even from Si: a haunting pact with the Queen of Ashes, an ancient entity offering power for a terrible price. As trust is tested and betrayals unfold, each woman must decide: stay hidden or rise as the witches they truly are.

The moon was full, but it wasn’t what lit the city of Noctara that night.
It was the soft neon buzz of a back-alley tattoo parlor, the cold glow of a hospital ward, the muted hum of a recording studio, a classroom left unlocked after hours, and a needle gliding across velvet as runes shimmered under cloth.
Five women. Five shadows. Five lives entangled by magic, memory, and makeup remover.
In Carla’s bathroom mirror, Si’s fingers grazed her cheek. “You’re wearing your serious face again.”
Carla didn’t answer. Her hands were steady, even as her heart threatened to summon the winds. If her friends ever found out what she’d done to keep Si safe… the Circle would break.
“Let them think I’m just the doctor,” she murmured.
“Let them never find out what kind of witch I had to become.”
Chapter 2: Threads and Thorns
Perla clicked her tongue, tugging at her braid as she leaned over her newest tattoo client. The ink slithered beneath her skin, forming a ward she didn’t understand — a symbol that had appeared in her dreams, drawn by a hand made of shadow.
“You okay?” Jessi asked from the doorway, arms crossed, glasses glinting.
“Peachy,” Perla lied. “You ever feel like something’s watching you? Like... beneath your skin?”
Jessi didn’t answer, but her silence said enough. They were all feeling it. The shift. The pull.
Something ancient had awakened in Noctara — and it was hungry.
Chapter 3: Melodies in the Dark
Mily plucked a single note from her harp. The air shimmered.
She played again — softer this time — and the room filled with ghosts. Not spirits, not souls. Memories. Her mother’s humming. A childhood kiss. The sound of flames licking her father’s study. The music brought them all back.
But one memory refused to come.
A black door. Locked.
And a voice behind it, whispering her name.
Chapter 4: Charmed Lessons
“Magic isn’t a tool,” Jessi said to her classroom of empty chairs. “It’s a burden.”
She cast a charm into the air, watching it flutter like a dying moth. Her students didn’t know what she truly taught after hours — how she kept the veil between realms thin but intact. How she sealed things away.
How she’d once sealed something alive.
Chapter 5: Secrets Between Stitches
Si’s atelier smelled like lavender and blood.
She didn’t remember cutting herself, but the scissors had nipped her thumb. The fabric beneath her fingers pulsed like flesh. She stared at the rune she had sewn blindly into the gown. It matched the one on Carla’s wrist.
She wanted to ask.
But Carla wasn’t ready to tell her.
Not yet.
Chapter 6: The Pact
Carla lit the candles in her apartment. One for each of them. But the sixth flame — black and cold — burned only for her.
She had made a pact with the Queen of Ashes to save Si’s life three years ago. Si had died in her arms — heart stopped. Carla had screamed, bargained, bled.
And the Queen had listened.
But power demands payment.
Now the Queen is coming to collect.
Chapter 7: The Witch Hunt Begins
Witches across Noctara are being hunted.
Found scorched. Silenced. Hollowed out.
The Velvet Circle gathers. Protective wards. Potions. Blood rituals. But nothing stops what’s coming.
The symbol from Perla’s dreams appears again — carved into a school desk. Etched into music sheets. Sewn into Si’s gown.
And inked into Mily’s neck.
Chapter 8: The Betrayal
Jessi discovers Carla’s secret.
The Circle fractures. Perla storms out. Mily cries. Si stands frozen.
“You brought her back?” Jessi yells. “You don’t get to play God!”
“I didn’t,” Carla says. “I played something worse.”
Chapter 9: Unraveled
Si confronts Carla.
“Do you even love me?”
“Always,” Carla says, eyes burning. “Enough to damn myself.”
They kiss. The last time they ever will.
Because Si now carries the Queen’s mark.
She is the price.
Chapter 10: The Last Spell
To banish the Queen, they must channel the Circle’s power — and let one of them go.
Si volunteers.
Carla refuses.
Mily sings a requiem. Perla draws the sigil in her own blood. Jessi opens the veil.
The Queen arrives.
Carla chooses death.
But the Circle binds her soul into the city itself. Her heartbeat echoes in the rain. Her magic lingers in the wind.
Epilogue: Velvet Skies
Noctara heals, but it remembers.
Perla opens her own sanctuary for young witches. Jessi teaches in a new city. Mily composes spells no one dares to sing.
Si designs a gown stitched with starlight. She wears it when she visits Carla’s old rooftop, where the wind always whispers her name.
Love didn’t save them.
But it made them immortal.
