The light turned red. Crash! Glass and metal flew, a devastating spray that littered the street. Traffic screeched to a halt. Mary breathed deeply, deliberately, shocked at how close she had been to being in that crash.
She had barely recovered when emergency services arrived. She'd always been somewhat nervous in cars, ever since her parents had... well, never mind. She was on her own now, driving wasn't optional any more.
Mary sighed, her psych had warned her about this. Don't overthink it. Her driving instructor gave her an encouraging nod. The light turned green.
