The Stranger Who Appeared in Every Dream

Every night, the same stranger appeared in his dreams until he discovered who the man really was.

The First Dream

The dreams began on an ordinary night. Nathan had fallen asleep after another exhausting day at work, expecting nothing more than the usual collection of random images that faded by morning. Instead, he found himself standing in the middle of a deserted train station beneath a dark sky. The platform stretched endlessly in both directions, illuminated by flickering lamps that cast long shadows across the ground. Everything was silent except for the distant sound of a train that never seemed to arrive. Then he noticed someone standing at the far end of the platform. A man dressed in a black coat watched him without speaking. Before Nathan could approach him, the dream ended.

The following morning, the image of the stranger remained unusually clear in his mind.

The Return

The next night, Nathan dreamed of the station again. The same platform. The same darkness. The same stranger. This time, however, the man stood much closer. His face remained hidden beneath the shadow of his coat collar, but Nathan could feel his eyes watching him. An uncomfortable sense of familiarity settled over him. The stranger wasn't threatening. If anything, he seemed patient, as though he had been waiting for a very long time. Just before Nathan woke up, the man finally spoke.

"You're late."

The words echoed through the empty station.

The Obsession Begins

For weeks, the dreams continued. Every night brought the same location and the same mysterious figure. Each time, the stranger moved a little closer. Friends dismissed the dreams as stress-related, but Nathan knew they were different. Ordinary dreams were chaotic and inconsistent. These felt real. The station never changed. The details remained identical. Even the clocks hanging above the platform displayed the same time every night 11:47. Nathan began recording everything in a journal. Soon, the entries filled dozens of pages. The stranger had become a permanent part of his life.

The Familiar Face

One evening, nearly a month after the dreams began, Nathan finally saw the stranger's face. The revelation left him speechless. The man looked familiar, though Nathan couldn't understand why. He wasn't a relative or a friend. Yet something about his features triggered a deep sense of recognition. The stranger appeared to be around forty years old, with tired eyes and a calm expression. He looked like someone carrying the weight of countless memories. When Nathan asked who he was, the stranger smiled faintly.

"You already know me."

Before Nathan could ask another question, he woke up.

The Search for Answers

The mystery consumed him. Nathan spent hours searching old photographs and family records, convinced he had seen the stranger somewhere before. Nothing matched. Meanwhile, the dreams grew more detailed. The stranger began speaking more often. He knew things about Nathan's childhood that nobody else should have known. He described forgotten memories with perfect accuracy. Sometimes he even mentioned events that happened later in the real world. Small details at first. A conversation. A lost item. A canceled meeting. Every prediction proved correct.

Nathan stopped believing the dreams were ordinary.

The Warning

One night, the stranger's behavior changed. Instead of waiting at the station, he approached immediately. His expression carried an urgency Nathan had never seen before.

"You need to listen carefully," he said.

Nathan felt a chill run through him.

The stranger pointed toward the tracks.

"A train is coming. When it arrives, don't get on."

Nathan wanted an explanation, but the stranger refused.

"Just trust me."

For the first time since the dreams began, genuine fear appeared in the man's eyes.

The Train

The following night, the distant sound Nathan had heard for weeks finally grew louder. A train emerged from the darkness and rolled into the station. Its windows were completely black. No passengers could be seen inside. The doors opened slowly.

Nathan felt an overwhelming urge to board.

Something about the train seemed familiar, almost comforting.

The stranger stepped between him and the open doorway.

"No matter what happens, stay here."

Then the dream ended.

The Accident

The next day, Nathan's life changed forever. While driving home from work, a truck lost control at an intersection. The collision happened so quickly that he barely had time to react. Witnesses later described the crash as catastrophic. Paramedics worked desperately to save him.

Meanwhile, Nathan found himself standing once again at the deserted station.

The stranger was waiting.

The Truth Revealed

For the first time, the station wasn't empty. The train stood at the platform with its doors open. Strange figures moved behind the dark windows.

Nathan looked at the stranger.

"What's happening?"

The man remained silent for several moments.

Then he finally answered.

"This is the place between."

Nathan's stomach tightened.

The stranger explained that the station existed between life and death, a crossroads visited by lost souls. For months, Nathan had been seeing fragments of it through his dreams because part of him already knew what was coming. The accident hadn't brought him there.

It had only completed the journey.

The Stranger's Identity

Nathan's mind raced.

"Who are you?"

The question hung in the air.

The stranger smiled sadly.

Then Nathan understood.

The face wasn't merely familiar.

It was his own.

Older,Wiser.

Worn by years that Nathan had never lived.

The stranger was a future version of himself.

Or perhaps a version from another reality entirely.

Whatever the truth, he had spent months trying to prepare Nathan for this moment.

The Choice

The train's doors remained open.

Beyond them waited the unknown.

Nathan felt fear unlike anything he had ever experienced.

The older version of himself placed a hand on his shoulder.

"You still have a choice."

Nathan stared at him.

"What choice?"

The stranger pointed toward the opposite end of the platform. There, hidden beyond the darkness, another path had appeared.

A path leading away from the train.

Away from the station.

Away from whatever awaited beyond.

The Awakening

Nathan chose the path.

The moment he took his first step, the station began dissolving around him. The train vanished. The platform faded. Even the stranger started disappearing.

Before he was gone completely, he offered one final smile.

"You were always stronger than you believed."

Then everything became white.

The Last Dream

Nathan woke up in a hospital bed three weeks later.

Doctors called his recovery miraculous.

Family members described it as impossible.

To Nathan, however, it felt like a second chance.

The dreams never returned.

The station disappeared.

The stranger was gone.

Yet years later, Nathan sometimes catches his reflection in a window and pauses for a moment.

Because every now and then, especially in dim light, the reflection looks slightly older than it should.

And it seems to be smiling before he does.
