Chapter One:

"Nobody can hear a scream in the vacuum of space, or so they say. I am guessing there is sound in space, and as humans, we can't hear it," said Sandy. Yes, Captain Sandy O'Connor, of the Starship Wagoosh Bimibatood.

The starship has an abbreviated name for Redtailed Fox running in the stars! It comes from the Anishinabe people and the Ojibwe language.

Our people have always been star people. And Captain O'Connor is no exception. She has always wanted to be in space and this is her opportunity to lead her first mission in space.

As she is looking out the large window at the cape, she sees the brightly painted spaceship. It is red, white, and blue for the USA. In the year 2022, she was born on the same day as George Jetson. She loves all the changes she has seen in her lifetime.

Not as many changes as George she thought and then she said out loud, "Oh, that is right, the show that George Jetson was on was from my grandparent's time. We have a few more years to get to where George was on that show! The Jetson's, right?"

"I don't know as I'm not that old says Bryan," and then he winks.

The best change yet is how little time it takes to get to the moon. And how our people have had a huge impact on space travel and space in general.

There have been some very interesting sightings in the last couple of years and we have been preparing to go to space for well over a year now.

And just what about those sightings? It is what appears to be changes happening on the moon. Our people are dependent on the moon for the earth's cycles. The seasons. We plan to spend as much time as needed to find out what is happening, or in a year, whichever comes first.

We can carry enough supplies to keep us alive for a year. And if we figure out how to live longer on the moon, that is great, but we plan to be back on earth in one year.

"Captain, I will be so glad to be done with all this virtual and practice activity and I can't wait to be off to the moon after all of our preparations. Do you think we are ready?" said Bryan Stands First.

"Of course, we can't prepare for every eventuality, how could we? We can only do what we can to be prepared! After all, we do have the brightest and best on this project!" said Sandy. "Why thank you Captain!" said Bryan.

"My family is so excited about this adventure of ours! Of course, they expressed how they will miss me. I am relieved I didn't have time to get married and have children yet! Imagine the heartache of spending a year away from children."

"I guess it was done in the armed service before the wars ended and there was no longer a need to be deployed for a year! I am so glad we no longer have to worry about our world fighting. Or any more world wars," said Captain Sandy.

"Yes, it is enough to think about who from outer space may want to go to war with us," said Bryan and then he followed up with. "Do you know where Mr. Space Case is?"

Now, who could he mean by that?

"Here he comes now," said Sandy. Just that fast Space Case jumped up on Sandy and licked her face! "Boy, get down now," said Bryan, "Get down from the Captain now!"

"That's okay Bryan, he hasn't seen me in a long time now. It's probably been a week. I'm glad we can take Mr. Space Case with us on this project. He has such valuable resources built in to help on this mission."

I really do and they don't know the half of it!
