The Shadow of the Last Tale Pt. 2
Whispers of a Forgotten Prophecy

Chapter One: The Returning Phantom
Elias sat in his room, staring at the pendant Liana had left in his hand. It was cold against his skin, yet a strange sensation crept into his chest, as if something still tied him to that world. The nightmares hadn’t stopped—in fact, they had worsened. Every night, he heard her voice calling him, saw glimpses of Valthera, but it was no longer the same. It was darker, weaker, as if it was slowly falling apart.
One night, he awoke to a soft whisper, but this time, it wasn’t a dream. In front of him stood Liana, ghostly, transparent, like a mere reflection from another world.
"Elias… He hasn’t left us."
"Who?" he asked, his voice unsteady.
"The Lost Sage… We didn’t break his chains. We reforged them. Valthera is dying, and you’re the only one who can save it."
Before he could respond, the wind howled through his room, his window burst open, and in the depths of the forest, the stone door had returned—glowing colder than ever. He knew there was no choice.
Chapter Two: The Dying Valthera
Elias stepped through the door once more, but this time, the world beyond was nothing like he remembered. The sky pulsed with grim hues, and the bone-built city crumbled under the weight of the encroaching darkness. He found himself in the throne plaza, but the stone seat was empty. There was no sign of the mysterious being—only shifting shadows that slithered across the ruins.
Then, fromthe darkness, Liana emerged, but her eyes… they were wrong. They were completely black, filled with something greater than anger—greater than pain.
"Liana?" he whispered, stepping forward.
"I… am no longer myself, Elias."
The terrible truth dawned upon him—Liana had not left Valthera alone. Something had come with her. The Lost Sage was no longer just an idea, no longer just a force lurking in the background. It had found a host.
Chapter Three: A New Choice
Elias stepped back, but a voice within him whispered that running wasn’t an option. He had to free Liana before the Sage consumed her completely. He remembered something the mysterious entity had told him when he first arrived:
"This world is not fixed—it is a story. And stories can be rewritten."
The key was in the pendant. He gripped it tightly and whispered:
"This story does not belong to you."
A blinding light erupted from the pendant, and Liana screamed, her voice mixed with the agonized wail of the Sage. Her body trembled as the force inside her fought to hold on, but Elias did not let go. He poured every memory of Liana, every moment they had shared, into that light.
Suddenly, she collapsed, her eyes returning to their natural glow—but Valthera was falling apart. They had to escape.
Final Chapter: The Last Page
They ran toward the stone gate, but the ground beneath Elias crumbled before he could cross. He clung to the edge of the gateway as Liana reached for him. Once again, he had to choose—stay behind and end Valthera with him or let her return alone.
This time, there was no hesitation. He grabbed her hand and let himself be pulled through.
The Open Ending
Elias awoke in his village again, but this time, he was not alone. Liana lay beside him on the grass.
But as he opened his eyes, he noticed something—the forest was not the same. There were traces of Valthera in the horizon, and the sky shimmered with a color that did not belong to this world.
Had the story truly ended?
Or had it only just begun?
